Today’s Music

March 22, 2019

These songs may seem to have nothing in common, but they do. They are among the 24 recordings just inducted into the National Recording Registry as “aural treasures worthy of preservation because of their cultural, historic and aesthetic importance to the nation’s recorded sound heritage.”

Today is a different day here on Coffee.

I got an e-mail from WordPress that said they have received a DMCA Takedown Notice for material published on my site. Because they at WordPress have received several DMCA notices against my site that have not been countered, they will suspend my site pursuant to the repeat infringer policy in 10 business days unless I submit a valid counter notice as described here:

I have to challenge the notice, counter it, to ensure that I don’t disappear. The notice refers to a song published by me in 2013. The second link is the counter notice and how I must defend my infringing content. I have 5 more days to fill then send the counter  notice. I’m not so sure that I have a defense and that would mean the end of Coffee. If any of you has some ideas to help, please post in comments. I’m gasping for breath.

A while back I did start another Coffee in blogger. If you’ve been with me a while, you know I got shut down in Blogger which is why I moved to WordPress. This is a different address for Blogger Coffee than the last one. I haven’t done much to that site yet, but I will in the next fews days.

If you have any ideas, I could use some help!!

Thanks,  Kat

Tom Petty

October 3, 2017

Tom Petty, the dynamic and iconoclastic frontman who led the band the Heartbreakers, died Monday. He was 66. Petty’s death was confirmed by Tony Dimitriades, longtime manager of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, on behalf of the family.

“On behalf of the Tom Petty family, we are devastated to announce the untimely death of of our father, husband, brother, leader and friend Tom Petty,” Dimitriades wrote. “He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived. He died peacefully at 8:40 p.m. PT surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.”

Tomorrow and Tomorrow

August 7, 2017

Coffee will probably be among the missing tomorrow. I’m having Laser Trabeculoplast which is more commonly done for glaucoma to relieve pressure. I had a simpler version earlier of the same thing, but it didn’t take. For 99% of the people that first procedure is enough. The doctor told me this one is more painful during and after so I figure I won’t want to be typing. Talk to you on Thursday!

I’ll leave you with this video from Ed Sheehan. It gives a joyous picture of Ghana.

Music? Isn’t there usually music?

April 13, 2017

Yes, there will be music but later on, early evening. Perhaps you’ll find some wonderful dinner music or even a lullaby to float you off to sleep as if on a cloud. I haven’t even decided on my theme so anything goes (nope, not show music).

Music and Take Down

July 1, 2016

I will start posting YouTube videos. I figure I’ll be safe from another takedown notice if I don’t post music or links. If  I’m taken down, I have an alternative site:

I have to work on this alternate setting yet. It is a work in progress.

June 30, 2016

WordPress is shutting Coffee down in nine days for violations, for posting music which isn’t mine to post. I have been going all over the net hoping to find another web host. I found Weebly, but I can’t seem to get it to what I want. iPage was another. I am at wit’s end here. If any of you know an easy hosting site, please let me know right away. Coffee is too much of my life to let it just disappear. If any of you can create a website, I will happily reimburse you. I am that frantic. HELP!!!!!

My Music

June 27, 2016

One of the songs I posted got removed for infringement. I have no idea what it was as the information in regard to the infringement listed the site, but when I clicked it, the post had already been taken down.

I am leaning toward far older music as that seems not to attract any attention. My other idea is to post the music on another site, not my WordPress account, so the other site could be taken down without Coffee being affected.

If you have any other ideas, do let me know!

“To lovers of adventure and novelty, Africa displays a most ample field.”

March 14, 2015

The day is bleak and rainy. The house was cold when I woke up so I turned on the heat and then finished the rest of my morning rituals. I made the coffee, got the papers, filled the dog’s dry food bowl, changed the water in the dog dish and then sat down to read the papers. The animals got their morning greetings then they went back to sleep. They are, of course, in their usual spots. Mornings never change around here.

Last night my palm tree was lit for the first time since the big snowstorm. It was unexpected. The tree had stopped lighting in February, and I hadn’t been able to check the connections as they were under feet of snow. All the melting this week uncovered the cord, and I saw the plug had disconnected from the timer. Reconnecting it didn’t work. The plug looked as if it had taken too much of a beating under all that snow. I put it back into the timer as best I could. Whatever I did to the plug seemed to work. When I was checking for the dog last night, I was happily surprised to see the lit palm tree. It is a tradition. Even the neighbors made comments when it wasn’t lit. They’ll be happy to see it again.

The first palm trees I ever saw were in Ghana. My geography book had come to life. I was thrilled. We were headed to Winneba and the road to that first training site was along the ocean. It was lined with palm trees. I could see coconuts hanging from below the fronds. Some trees looked bent in odd ways. I was finally somewhere exotic and not a scrub pine was in view. Little did I know what else awaited me.
