Yesterday I couldn’t post music. Today I have more than made up for it. I have posted my regular type songs, but I have also honored Harry Belafonte and his music. He died today at age 96.

Another legend gone.
My mother had an old vinyl and later I bought some of his records too, mostly folk records. I remember a TV concert show where he hosted Buffy Sainty-Marie which was on German TV in the late 70s I think. Unfortunately they dubbed her lyrics what ruined the concert. I recorded and loved it anyway and wore out this cassette completely, I learned to ignore the dubbing.
RIP Harry Belafonte.

We are certainly losing legends. He started in the 50′ so we have been lucky having him so long. I know so many of his songs.

Hi Kat,
What can anyone say about this great man, other than thank you for having been here. As a kid my sister and I loved his Calypso album and singing along with Day’o, and the other songs such as Jump Down Spin Around. The last movie I saw was with him was RFK. RIP.

Hi Bob,
He started in the 50’s, and there are few left who are his contemporaries. I also loved his calypso songs and thank him for the introduction to such wonderful music.
