“In the morning I woke like a sloth in the fog.”

Today just couldn’t shake off the damp of last night’s rain, and it’s cloudy and dismal. The birds aren’t even here to distract me as the feeders are all empty. Only a snoring Gracie is giving the day any life.

I have chosen today as a not to get dressed day. I’m going to fill the feeders, make my shopping list for Thursday’s desserts, go on-line and order some Christmas presents and then organize some photos on my Mac, the original ones from my Peace Corps days. On Saturday I hauled into the house 30 pounds of dog food so my back hurts a bit, another perfect excuse for staying home and taking it easy. Did I mention the headache?

If you’re thinking today’s musings lack any inspiration, you’d be correct. My memory drawers seem to be stuck closed, and I have no ambition. Moving my fingers on the computer is about all I can muster. I think a little sun would help and maybe a chocolate chip cookie or two. I took something for my headache but chocolate has a far more miraculous effect.

On Saturday I called Ghana and talked to Florence, one of my former students. I have been calling a different student every couple of weeks so we can stay in touch now that we have found each other. Florence wanted to know when I was returning. I wished I could say in a month or two, but I think it will be at least another year before I can fill my coffers with enough money. When I give them the date, I’m hoping more students will arrive from other parts of the country so we can have a giant party. Let the beer and the pito flow! Bring out the kelewele and the Guinea Fowl.

This week is really a lost week. Who can be motivated to do anything when the long Thanksgiving weekend starts on Thursday? I am doing some work at home today since I traveled for work on Saturday.

I understand that this year the online bargains have already begun instead of waiting until next Monday. If it wasn’t for Halloween, the stores would start the Holiday buying season the day after Labor Day.

My back would also hurt if I bought that much dog food at once. I buy it in smaller quantities for both my back and for my limited storage space. I don’t want to store any dog food in my garage because it would draw vermin. Occasionally we spot an opossum in the neighborhood late at night. I am sure it would love to break in and munch on dog food.

Do your former students have access to a computer and high speed internet? If so, then you could use Skype to video communicate with them for free. I am sure that the airlines don’t run many fare sales to Africa.

Today is cloudy and cooler with a chance of Thunderstorms later this afternoon. We can use all the rain we can get after the summer drought.

      Bob,
I always liked this week when I worked, only 2 and 1/2 days long. It was a pleasure. Now, it is just like any week until Thursday when we get to celebrate.

I look thorugh catalogs and then keep a list until after Thanksgiving then I shop on line. It is just so much easier than crowds and stores.

The dry food only comes in that size bag. I keep it in a tin in the kitchen so no vermin.

None of them seem to have computers. They don’t have e-mail, just cell phones. Nope, no fare sales to Africa.

The sun just poopped out but it is still hazy and damp.

I had to go back to reality and work today 🙂 Just as well, it was another grey and foggy day here.

I never buy a bigger dog food bag than 22 pound but I buy one every week 🙂 I used to buy all dog food for a month at the same time before, but it just was to much 🙂 🙂 🙂

As Bob says, Skype is great if one has the right internet connection. I have skype already in my computer but no one to skype with 🙂 🙂 Just as well, my connection is somewhat unstabile. Sometimes it works perfect but mostly it just shuts down 🙂 🙂

    Have a great day!
    Christer.

      Christer,
I never minded working on ugly days as it felt as if I wasn’t missing anything.

This bag will last Gracie more than a month. She also gets a can of food a day. The dry food is more of a snack for her.

      Enjoy the evening!

Ghana’s in your blood. Maybe you should start a blog of all those memories with photos and be the tour guide for those interested.

      Z&Me,
I was content to remember for forty years then those two weeks changed everything.

I’ll give the blog a thought or two, but I spend a lot of time just doing this one.

I have been waiting, maybe it goes all the way back to Wuthering Heights, I dunno.
So scanning price, it was Best Buy online with store pick up for just $9.99 and I rushed over at lunch time to pick it up
And here it is Kate Bush “50 Words for Snow”, mesmerizing me, filling my home with sound, occupying the space of a cold dark night and…..it’s a work of genius.
Kat go buy this, 65 minutes that are incredible ..BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT

      My Dear Hedley,
I am downloading it from the web as I write. Your recommendation is more than enough!

      Thank you!
