Blue: Joni Mitchell
November 9, 2017Chelsea Morning: Joni Mitchell
August 2, 2011Today is I know you’ve heard these before, but I deem this my favorites day so I get to repost.
The album Clouds spent two years in Africa with me. It was played almost every night. Most times it had to be hand rewound, a victim of the heat and humidity. I came to love my Bic pen; it was just the right size to fit in the holes and catch the cogs in the cassette so I could easily rewind.

April 22, 2011Chelsea Morning: Joni Mitchell
February 11, 2011I still remember the first time I heard Joni singing. It was from this album, Clouds, which remains my favorite. It was with me in Africa and was played so often the heat wreaked havoc on the tape, but I didn’t mind. I’d patiently rewind the cassette using my Bic pen. It was always worth the effort. Okay, I’ve played this before, but I feel like playing it again. I just love the imagery in this song. The oranges are always green to me, as they were in Africa.
The Circle Game: Joni Mitchell
January 25, 2011The album Ladies of the Canyon was released in 1970. It was Joni’s third. Her voice here is the Joni I first heard and loved.

September 23, 2010I apologize for sending you elsewhere to listen, but Hipcast’s audio player will not load. I have been trying to figure out how to add one, but I just didn’t find anything. This is the best I can do for now.
I figured if I chose a Joni, you’d forgive the inconvenience.
Chelsea Morning: Joni Mitchell
August 17, 2010I get to pick favorite songs today.
This is from Clouds which I brought to Africa with me on a cassette which the humidity helped kill then I bought another which eventually was replaced by a CD.
This album has more memories attached than any other I own.
The Circle Game: Joni Mitchell
July 2, 2010Ladies of the Canyon is Joni Mitchell's third album. It was released in 1970. The album title refers to Laurel Canyon, a center of popular music culture in Los Angeles during the sixties.
According to Wikipedia, "This album is arguably the most related to her long-standing friendships and relationships with Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young. The Circle Game, one of the artist's most recognizable songs, features background vocals from all four."
