It is a perfect weather day. The blue sky has a few puffy clouds. The humidity is gone, and there is a breeze cooling the house. All my windows and doors have been opened since late yesterday afternoon. This horribly hot month has a good ending.
I woke up early this morning, at least early for me. It was only 8:15. I checked to see if it was still dark.
Tomorrow is the meteorological end of summer, but summer will be hanging around until September 22nd, and the heat will be back in a few days. Our respite is short-lived. My sweatshirt will stay in the closet for a while.
This morning Henry has already eaten a piece of my bedspread, a few insides from the couch cushion and some threads off the towel now covering aforementioned cushion. He threw up. I wasn’t surprised.
I have run out of excuses. I’ll be planting the flowers I just bought. Right now they are sitting in their original pots on the walkway to my house. I’ll also be watering flowers. The basil on the deck is all shriveled but a bit of water will unfold those leaves.
School starts around here on Tuesday. The street is as quiet today as it has been most of the summer. Even the weekly renters next door have been quiet. A few dogs bark periodically and some spawns of Satan chatter but that’s it for the noise.
I’m still in my cozy clothes. I was thinking of taking Henry to the vets to have his claws trimmed, but I’m going to try one more time to do it myself. I did manage to trim the cat’s front claws, and I consider the claw and teeth marks on my hands badges of honor. I don’t worry about Harry biting me. I’m just worried I won’t be able to catch him if he sees the claw trimmer. At the vets, they always tell me how easy it is to trim the cat’s claws. I figure they must keep her totally immobilized.
This is nap time for Henry and Maddie. After all, they have been up for almost five hours.
This is lunch time for me. I had only two cups of coffee and a few Animal Crackers for breakfast. I’m thinking a chicken sandwich and chips.
