“Life, now, was unfolding before me, constantly and visibly, like the flowers of summer that drop fanlike petals on eternal soil.”

This morning is a delight. We have bright sun and a blue sky. The birds are singing: better described as the hungry birds as so many of them are coming to my feeders I have to fill the feeders again. I also need more seed, and I need dog food as well so a trip to Agway is on my list today. Gracie and I are also going to the dump. I’ll make two trips as I don’t want Gracie waiting in the car while I shop at Agway. I also need bread so I’ll add the grocery store to my errand list.

The temperature is in the 70’s and will go down to the 60’s tonight. It will be the same the next couple of days. That’s perfect for me.Β The weather report says showers tonight. I hope so. We haven’t had rain in a while. Summer showers are my favorite of all sorts of rain though thunder showers are a close second.

I do the Globe crossword every day. It seems to be getting easier as I get older. I figure the puzzle maker is young and thinks his clues are head scratchers. The historical stuff I’ve lived through so they’re really easy. The capital of Ghana is often one of the clues, a no-brainer for me. The clues which stump me are often about current singers or television programs I never watch. I can only hope to fill in from the clues around those.

Last night the crowd chose Creature with the Atomic Brain as our movie. It is black and white and was made in 1955 but is a tick better than most we’ve watched. Richard Denning is the star. The evil scientist is a former Nazi and his boss a deported gangster who has returned illegally. They both deserved hissing. We had a few appetizers, played a game of Phase 10 and enjoyed meatballs in marinara sauce, frozen from last week, and a great salad for supper before the movie. We, of course, had candy for movie watching.

When I retired, I had no idea how I’d spent my time, but I wasn’t worried. I knew I’d find something to keep me busy or not. It will be thirteen years this summer, and I have enjoyed every day especially days when I did nothing. I have a routine for the mornings, but the days are come what may. That’s my favorite part, the spontaneity of it all.

More depressing than a Lennie album, its “Detroit” , Mrs MDH and I popped down the Emagine theater to see the show . Yup if you want over 2 hours of cops beating up and murdering folks at the Algiers Motel then this is the movie for you – made Hurt Locker look like a musical

I trundled out of the movie generally grizzling about a presentation with zero uplifting message and then thought about the inconsistencies and decided I liked nothing . Mrs MDH does not agree.

So I am heading out for my lunchtime walk and think I will fire up “You want it darker” to pick up my spirits LENNIE

      My Dear Hedley,
I don’t need to watch two hours of violence. The news gives me more than enough of that. I’ll pass on this movie.

I do want to see Dunkirk, perhaps later in the week. That is uplifting in the heroics of the small boat captains.

Good luck with your eye procedure tomorrow. I’m the biggest chicken when it comes to pain. Good thing men can’t give birth to children. πŸ™‚

I have no desire to see Detroit, either in the movie or in person. I lived through the racial riots in the late 60s and don’t need to see the rerun.

      Bob,
Thanks!! I’m usually okay with pain as long as it isn’t excessive, not like the bite the bullet pain.

I don’t need bloodshed and deaths or cops beating head either.

We’re having a warm but cloudy morning here today and we might actually reach 75,2F today. The sun is trying to reach through the clouds but so far it hasn’t been too successful.

I usually buy a crossword magasine every summer vacation but I just realised I’ve forgotten that this summer. Well I still have trime to do it, I won’t start working until next Monday πŸ™‚

I just checked a trailer for the Creature with the Atomic Brain and in the middle of it a voise said it was made with scientiffic facts πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It must have been a great movie πŸ™‚

I hope today won’t be too bad for You!

    Christer.

      Christer,
We should have chosen a creature movie. The Black Scorpion was so funny as were the locusts. I still have more of them we can watch.

It is only 62˚ now, and it is still raining which started last night. It will be chilly all day. Usually this time of year is in the 80’s, but it has been a colder summer and a really nice one as I prefer the cooler temperatures.

My mother always had a crossword puzzle book or two. I used to look through to see if I could fill in any of the spaces.

      Thanks!!
