“I write to express and I shop to destress”

Okay, last night started off great. I watched, binge watched, all four episodes of Gilmore Girls. I had wanted to savor them, but I couldn’t wait. Each one got better than the one before so the last one, fall, was wonderful. It was like Gilmore Girls of old. I hated finishing. That happened about 1:30. I then went up to bed followed closely by my faithful hound Gracie; however, Miss Gracie didn’t settle down on the bed. She sat up, started gulping then panting. She moved around trying to get comfortable but couldn’t, and she was shaking. I turned on the light and tried to comfort her. That didn’t work. We went downstairs, and I let her out. By this time it was after 2. She came in, jumped on the couch and laid down. So did I. That lasted only minutes before she was up and panting again. We did the spider plant routine. I cut and held and she ate. Now we were closing on 3:30. I went upstairs, got my pillow and blanket. I took all the cushions off the couch and made myself as comfortable as possible. Gracie jumped on and was okay for about 15 minutes. I went back to the dining room followed by Gracie. I snipped more spider plant fronds which she scarfed down. After that, Gracie seemed okay so we went back to the couch. That didn’t last either as she wanted out again. It was close to 4:30. When Gracie came back inside, she jumped on the couch, got comfy and fell asleep. I couldn’t get comfortable. My last time check was 5:00. I woke up at 11.

Last night had a silver lining. Maddie didn’t howl. I think she was entertained by the antics of Gracie and me; also, she had company.

It is a good thing I live alone as I am a bit grumpy. I woke up with a headache and a back ache. Both are almost gone due to the miracle of modern over the counter medicines, but grumpy still remains. I have hopes of getting out today despite the rain. Perhaps a bit of shopping and a stop for lunch will make me fit for human company again.

Nights like that are awful and I do hope You don’t have to go through another one like it again!

They had promised sun all day today so naturally it was cloudy all day but it didn’t rain so I’m not complaining too much.

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Christer,
You do know awful nights with pets. We have to take care of our furbabies!

We had that rain you were missing. It rained on and off all day. Gracie and I shopped then hurried home to the dry, warm house.

Hope you’ve had a good evening!!

Sorry to hear your night was a disaster. I hear the same things from my spouse in the morning but substitute one of my kids instead of a dog. 🙂 I think the real job of a parent, natural or adoption, is to worry.

My mother was the biggest worrier I ever knew. My mother was worried about my becoming a pilot from the age of nine or so until she died when I was thirteen. She worried about imaginary diseases and illnesses which could harm my sister and I. How I turned out only slightly neurotic is a miracle. 🙂

It is so worrisome with pets as they can’t say anything. Gracie and Maddie do worry me as they are both old: Gracie is 12 and Maddie is 18. I’m taking Gracie to the vet for a second physical for the year. They call it an older pet visit.

My mother kept all her worries to herself. When my brother was drafted, my mother feared Vietnam, but he was sent to Germany instead so she was relieved. She worried when I went to Africa but didn’t know what to worry about, and I didn’t tell her.

    Hi Kat,
    Oh, what a night. 🙂
I hope everyone’s all back to normal now.

Today’s errand was to get Rocky and Piki Dog new water resistant winter coats. They have ones that look like those red and black hunting jackets but those don’t keep the wet out. My local pet store had two coats that were just what I was looking for in sizes that would fit. One was marked down because it had been in a window display and had faded a little. And it was small business Saturday so win/win/win all around. 🙂

The weather up here was dismal but no rain. The sun peeked out a few times but decided against making an entrance.

    Enjoy the evening.

      Hi Caryn,
Gracie seems just fine. She is sleeping on the couch and snoring. Maddie is sitting under the heat of the light. Her heat lamp.

Gracie has a winter jacket but not a raincoat. I hope that doesn’t make me a bad parent. We run to the car and run back when we’re done. She gets about as wet as I do.

The dismal weather here also meant rain. It would lightly rain, then stop then rain more heavily.

      Have a great evening!

Sleep well tonight! All of you.

I’ve already tired. I think I’ll finish the mail then go to bed. I hope Gracie will also be tired, but maybe if I’d deeply sleeping I would hear her.

    Kat,
Oy, what a night.Glad Maddie was thoughtful enough not to howl. will always help. Hope Gracie and you have a better night, and you all sleep well. I become grumpy ( and worse ) if I don’t get my 12 hours sleep. Grumpy makes me think of one of the seven dwarfs.
Hoping you have a better day.

Last night I saw Vienna Teng do a benefit for a Climate Change organization. I didn’t notice my back pain till after the show. Music is one medicine, but I think it is time to look for something I can take daily.
    Have a great day.

      Hi Lori,
I think Maddie was glad I was in the den with her. She does howl when she has company. I’m usually good for 8 hours or more. Less isn’t enough. I got less sleep than I need which brought on the grumpiness.

I did a bit of shopping, and it was fun. They were different type shops with wonderful small gifts. I also bought myself some lunch.

My back is a bit better. I hope a good night’s sleep will make for a wonderful morning.

      Enjoy the day!
