“The entire world revolves around this wretched Alien.”

Today is like being shut in a closet with no air. The sky is cloudy, and the humidity is high, way too high. The breeze is blowing, the sort of breeze which comes before a storm. It sprinkled a bit earlier but that doesn’t count. Only real rain counts, heavy drops of rain.

I went to breakfast this morning with my retired friends. We go out once a month. I went spicy with linguica, Monterey Ray Jack cheese and salsa: all served on one side of a Portuguese roll.

The painting continues. This time it is the upstairs bathroom and the color is green. I can’t describe the exact sort of green as I forget the Β name because I didn’t really pay attention. I was only making sure it matched one of the cloths in my Ghanaian shower curtain. It will take forever to dry in this humidity.

I am generally verbose, but today I seem to have nothing more worth mentioning. I have a blank dance card. I suppose I can drag myself to buy flowers to fill a few of the empty spots in the front garden, but I don’t have the energy, and beside, I don’t want to get wet if it rains again. I might just have to be content staying home and watching the programs I recorded.

Yesterday was alien invasion day on the Syfy channel, and all of them were bent on Earth domination and the destruction of the human race. That got me thinking about friendly aliens, there being so few. E.T. came to mind easily. I also remember Starman with Jeff Bridges. One of my favorite little conversations in that movie occurred while he was driving and just after he had driven through a red light. “Okay? Are you crazy? You almost got us killed! You said you watched me, you said you knew the rules!” His answer: “I watched you very carefully. Red light stop, green light go, yellow light go very fast.” My favorite alien name is Paul. Klaatu got nicer as the movie progressed even though he’d been shot. Superman is an alien but I don’t really count him. After all, he did grow up here.

Yesterday one of the movies was Independence Day-Saster. It did steal from a similarly named movie, but it had its own little quirks. I liked the name of that movie, another made up SyFy channel name. Last night’s movie, a new one, had an ordinary name, and I was disappointed. Invasion Roswell, the name of the movie, seemed to sum up the entire plot. I watched it anyway. The Sox were losing so I switched channels. I think the movie ended up being the better choice.

    Hi Kat,
It’s raining here. It’s not a downpour but a nice steady, soaking rain. The breeze is cool when it blows.
Peapod came this morning very early. I put the groceries away and went out to do a few errands. When I got back the lawn mower guys were working away in the rain.
Laundry is in the machines. Chicken carcass is in the slow cooker making chicken jello for Rocky. He loves his chicken jello. πŸ˜›

The TV is on for background noise but there’s nothing very interesting to listen to. The Shroud of Turin followed by Lost Gods of Egypt and Lost Gods of the Celts. I’ve seen them. Not worth seeing again.

I think I will stay on the couch and alternate between crocheting mindless mug mats, playing Candy Swipe and reading The Scarlet Pimpernel.
It’s that kind of a day.

Enjoy your day and stay dry.

      Hi Caryn,
We have a great breeze from the north so I expect it will rain at some point this afternoon. (It just started-enough to be heard)

I have to do my peapod order today. Nothing much is left in the house except pet food. I have a list.

Nothing much on here either. I’ll do a little surfing as I have a couple of pallets I want made into a chair, and I’ll look for designs.

I haven’t much to do today and I’m glad!

      Enjoy your leisure!!

I wish I had Your SyFy channel! It’s almost only chanel six that shows those movies here but they tend to show them too late. But they are usually rather cheap if I want to buy them on dvd πŸ™‚ The aliens in Close encounter of the third kind was kind I guess but we really never saw them, did we. Otherwise it seems most of them wants to kill us πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Rather nice weather over here, a bit cooler with a nice breeze and no rain until tomorrow afternoon.

Wasn’t Kim Basinger an alien in one movie? I remember she drank battery acid but besides that she was rather nice πŸ™‚ Can’t remeber the name of the movie though. Wasn’t there one with an alien family too and they all had pointy heads πŸ™‚ They were rather nice too if I remember things right πŸ™‚

    Have a great day!

Christer,Some of the movies are just awful, but I watch them anyway. I guess it is a weird obsession. You really would like this channel. It is fun!

It is now raining which is a good thing as we needed it.

I looked up her movies and she was in My Stepmother Is an Alien so maybe that’s what you’re thinking about.

The pointy heads movie was a spin-off from a Saturday Night Live sketch. They were called Coneheads, and they were nice. I’d forgotten about them.

      • Caryn Says:

The Coneheads were from France. πŸ™‚

      • katry Says:

The Coneheads were natives of the planet Remulak who were stranded on Earth, but when they were asked about their strange appearance, they said they were from France which no one questioned.

I think it’s the sketch i remember because I’ve never seen that movie. That Basinger movie had the same name in swedish, I remembered that when I read it here πŸ™‚

That’s the only line I’d be able to give you from Starman, which I remember seeing as a tween at my grandparents’ apartment, where they had cable.

Why would anyone want to watch a movie about friendly aliens? The fun of aliens in movies is to scare the crap of you. People want to be scared and thrilled for their nine bucks. I like the new where the aliens come as friends and then when they gain our confidence they eat us.

I have been enjoying the cool beautiful weather here in Tronto all week. In Dallas it has been 105 degrees with a wind chill of 103 πŸ™‚

    • katry Says:

I agree, Bob, but I really did like E.T.

The aliens are getting trickier with more advanced weaponry so we need to be on our toes!

You have been enjoying weather similar to ours. It was a delight!!
