Christmas Strumming

December 7, 2012

Mark Anderson, a long time Coffee regular, has published a book, and this is the perfect time to introduce it. The book is called Christmas Songs for the Amateur Guitarist and Low Voices.

Christmas isn’t that far away, but there is still time to learn some carols then gather a few friends, sing for your neighbors while you strum along!

What I Did On My Summer Vacation!

October 4, 2012

I am not having a regular posting today. I just spend over an hour going through the pictures, adding more information and deleting a few duplicates. I saw your comments and went back and made the viewing public so there shouldn’t be a problem. It took me a while to figure out what I needed to do, but having an account is unnecessary (I hope). Click twice on the first picture as you’ll then have a black background which is perfect for viewing. Come see my adventure: please comment!

Wednesday Posting!

June 20, 2012

I know, I know. Why am I posting on a Wednesday? Well, I couldn’t let the first day of summer pass: too many great songs, and I wanted to wish you all a happy summer!

(This week I’m taking Friday off instead!)

Welcome to Your Year in Music

January 7, 2012

It seems many of us were born the same year so the list of years is shorter than I’d hoped. If you haven’t chimed in yet, please do so.

I made a chronological list and started with the earliest years. The songs here are those which were on the charts the longest. I chose the top two of each year.

The first two are from 1929; the second two are from 1947.

Enjoy! I’ve had fun doing this!

My Weekend Music Needs Your Help!!!

January 5, 2012

Rick Herndon had the most wonderful suggestion. He thought it a great idea to post the number one song from the years of everyone’s births. I like it. Please use the comment section to let me know your year, and I’ll use the weekends to post four songs a day until I finish.

Happy New Year

December 31, 2011

Happy New Year to all my Coffee friends. I wish you joy and happiness.

Punxsutawney Phil and Groundhog Day

February 2, 2011

In an early morning ceremony today, Punxsutawney Phil rose from his heated burrow at Gobbler’s Knob, PA, and signaled to his handlers that he saw no shadow today and accordingly foretold an early end to winter. Over the 125 years that the ceremony has taken place, Phil has seen his shadow 98 times and not seen it only 16, counting today. (Records don’t exist for every year.) The last time he didn’t see a shadow was in 2007. In 2008, the crowd booed the prospect of “six more weeks of winter,” as they no doubt would have today, when a smaller than usual crowd stood in the freezing rain to watch the ceremony.

I got a great I found you e-mail from Darius over at Oliver di Place. This is his folk music week, and he’s invited us to drop over and visit.
