“As long as we know in our hearts what Christmas ought to be, Christmas is.”
Merry Christmas!
The weather is amazing. The winds are furious. The pine trees are bending nearly in half. Branches are strewn all over. When I first woke up, I thought the rain had started, but it was branches brushing the side of the house. The winds will give way to rain. It is warm, almost pleasant. Already it is 58˚, that’s downright balmy.
Last night was quiet. I panicked when my remote wouldn’t listen to me but rather announced dying batteries. My battery stash had no AA’s. Seriously who has no double AA’s, the batteries which run the world? I didn’t know what to do. I went looking at DoorDash which now delivers from convenience stores and pharmacies. Walgreen’s was open. I ordered at 7:25. My order was weird, mostly fillers. I got my batteries, manila envelopes, dog treats, 2 cans of cat food and litter. It was delivered by 8:15. It is my strangest delivery by far this Christmas season.
When I was a kid, that first view of the tree surrounded by gifts was breathtaking. My eyes always zeroed in on my pile. I can remember a Ginny doll, her bed and an armoire filled with clothes. A Sorry game was on its side leaning against some books. One year I had ice skates. Another year it was my bike. I’d sit on the floor in front of my gifts and look at them one at time. I’d show my mother as if they were new to her. She always acted surprised. I was never disappointed by Christmas. That hasn’t changed.
In my living room are piles of presents. They are all wrapped and just waiting for me so I’ll finish here so I can start the Great Unwrapping.
Have the Best Day!

Sunny and cold over here today, really nice but it was most likely the last time we saw the sun this year, warmer and cloudy weather is on its way back.
The only christmas present I actually remember is a tape recorder, I used it for several years and it was a sad day when it finally gave up. I do remember birthday presents though but no christmas ones.
Have a very merry christmas 🙂
Christer.

Christer,
It is still warm. The sky darkened for a while but is getting brighter.
We always got great presents and wonderfully filled stockings. I have always loved Christmas.
You also have a very merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Kat,
This morning I realized that we only have four Kurig coffee cups left. Those are the individual little cups that go into the coffee maker. I searched the pantry and it was empty of coffee. I need at least two cups to get the day started. I assume my better half just forgot to resupply. OMG, a fate nearly as bad as no AA batteries. We buy AA batteries at Costco in a box of a hundred at a time.
Today, the high temperature will hit a balmy 60° with sunny skies. The wind died down yesterday evening as the cold front headed in your direction.
My daughter and I are watching our favorite holiday movie, “A Christmas Story” which has become our Christmas Day ritual. It’s running continuously on two cable channels for 24 hours. Every mother, including mine, would would use the BB gun block, “No, you’ll shoot your eye out”. 🙂
This year my spouse only bought gifts for our kids. We decided buying a house was gift enough for ourselves. Also, I have vowed not to fill up this place with tons of stuff. I guess for a capitalist system to work everyone has to do their part filling up their empty spaces with lots of stuff, useful or not. Maybe the prize goes to the person who dies with the most stuff.
I have to cut this short because I don’t want to miss the part where Scott Farcus goes after Ralphie and his friends.

Hi Bob,
Thank you!
It was horrifying to find I had very other size battery. Now I’ll have to order a huge pack to have on hand.
It will get as high as 62˚ today, even warmer than yours, but the cold is coming. It will get cold tonight, down to the 30’s, and the next two days will be cold. That’s okay. I’ll be warm here.
I also love A Christmas Story. I usually watch in pieces as it is on continuously as you mentioned.
No, I think gifts for the kids is perfect. You did get a house with a pool.
Enjoy the movie!!

Beautiful and not even strange coming from a clown who reminds me of Pagliacci.

And to you too, Kat, and all the year round. I’m impressed with the strangest of said delivery, and goodness knows we’ve all had some mighty strange ones this year.

Thanks, Rowen.
I changed the litter, gave the dog some treats and replaced the batteries, a strange but worthwhile delivery.

Happy Unwrapping Day and Merry Christmas everyone!
Christmas Eve, our main day is over, followed by two public Christmas holidays and a Sunday for recreation. That’s 3 1/2 days with closed shops (just gas stations for basic needs) and I love that we still have commerce-free days.

Birgit,
It was a fun morning as I worked through each pile of gifts. I spoke with my sisters and my friends in New Hampshire and Zoomed my friends in Florida.
Most places closed early yesterday and were closed today, back to open tomorrow. I’ll be glad to stay home tomorrow and enjoy my new books.
