I assume that eating with your right hand is common in Ghana. In many places people use their right hand as a fork and clean their posterior with their left hand. Obviously, never confusing which hand is for which end of the alimentary canal. What about us south paws? We would make quite a stir at mealtime. 🙂

Eating with the right hand is common in Africa and Asian. It is a ritual of sharing food. The left hand use, even by accident, would exclude you from eating communally. You’d be in a corner by yourself. I had a left handed friend. He conquered his impulse to use that hand. Nobody wants to eat food touched by a left hand.

Maybe he should have carried a roll of TP in his right hand. 🙂

That wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense as it is the right hand which is used in communal meals. Not to eat with the family is a horrible punishment.

Carrying the TP in the right hand would indicate to everyone why he was eating with his left hand. He uses his right hand to wipe with the TP.

It would be a cultural No No. Respecting the culture is more important than just about anything. Everyone would cringe if they saw you with TP.
