I was doing the family grocery shopping accompanied by two children, an event I hope to see included in the Olympics in the near future.”
Yesterday it rained, a good rain though not a long rain. Today is humid and the clouds come and go which means the sun does the same. The paper said a chance of rain tonight. I’m skeptical.
The clematis on my front fence is loaded with buds. Its leaves are even climbing the pine tree. When the flowers bloom, the fence will be covered in white, a dramatic flourish to the end of summer.
Two deliveries this morning, one was all produce while the other had meat, including hot dogs, and a couple of veggies, some sweet potatoes, a loaf of bread and hummus. There were cookies, yup, chocolate chip cookies which I am now eating then I’ll hide the rest of them. Given my memory of late, I’ll forget. It will be a surprise when I find them.
I’ll fill the feeders today. I had a delivery of a bag of cayenne so I can sprinkle it on the seeds. Take that, spawns of Satan!!.
I used to feel guilty when I did nothing all day, but I am pleased to say I am over that now. A sloth day is a day well spent.
When I was a kid, with the bottles of white milk, one bottle of chocolate milk was also delivered every week. We were told to drink it in combination with the white milk so the chocolate would last longer. My mother never told us the ratio between the two. I think we decided it was 3/4-1/4. The chocolate milk had a short shelf span, even shorter than the Oreo’s.

Hi Kat,
Today we closed on the sale of our condo and we are a one house owner again. 🙂 One thing I noticed today was how many people are wearing masks. Some are not wearing them correctly by not covering their nose. However, the numbers of COVID cases has been steadily going down. What a miracle science is correct! And the right wing nut cases were wrong as are the right wing anti-vaccination nuts.
We got so little rain yesterday it wasn’t even measurable. The next few days triple digits are back on the adjenda. Right now it’s 102° and it’s not yet the hottest part of the day.

Hi Bob,
I’m glad to hear all went well. Most people I know who live in a condo sold their house, not the reverse. I figure, though, they didn’t live in the close quarters during the quarantine.
Gee, I guess listening to the science might be a good idea. Perhaps it can be shared with the president and his staff.
Most people here also wear masks. It drives me crazy when the nose isn’t covered as it is such a transmission site.
Stay home in the cool!!

Hi Kat,
Your fence sounds spectacular. Does it have little lights in among the clematis flowers? That would be cool, too.
Chocolate milk never came to our house. We got Hershey’s syrup or the powdered stuff that never quite dissolved in the milk.
Today is a slacker day here, too, although I did take the dogs on an extra long sniffy walk this morning. Sniffy walks are ones where they are allowed to choose the direction and stop however much they want. Within reason. It’s interesting to see where they choose to go.
Later in the morning I decided I needed ice cream from Bensons so we took the long drive up. Apparently I need to drive more because my accelerator foot is out of condition. It developed a cramp-like pain up the outside of the ankle. I thought I was going to have to work accelerator, brake and, clutch with my left foot. Awkward.
Enjoy your day of sloth.

Hi Caryn,
It doesn’t have lights, but it a great idea as I do have a couple of strands of white lights I bought to replace any eaten by the spawns, but I didn’t use the lights.
We had Hershey’s syrup for ice cream and the powdered stuff for hot cocoa. it dissolved easily in the hot milk.
Henry doesn’t do walks. He is afraid of other people, not dogs. Henry likes dogs. He does have the yard, and he’ll run around if I’m there with him. He does the stairs.
Yikes, left feet don’t work well that way. That’s a weird spot for a cramp. I’m glad you were okay.
I even took a nap today!

Lazy day here too. The sunflowers are in bloom and a lot of blackberries are ripe and ready to eat. It feels like autumn by now and I even wear socks. Everything is calm and quiet except the news, usual bad inhuman politics and nazis want to take Berlin. Not to speak of your country. What do you think, with climate change Greenland might be a livable country with enough space and water and maybe nice people?

Hi Birgit,
Things are beyond belief. We have a president who puts himself first at every turn. He takes credit for everything and lies about his successes. He never even mentioned covid in his speech last night. I didn’t watch, but I watched the reports. That’s as closer as I want to get to anything Trump.

I tried the red pepper on the birdseed but it didn’t bother our squirrels. I finally closed in the feeder with wide mesh, so the birds can jump through but not the squirrels.
Tomorrow is last day to register for the primary in our little town. So far over 200 absentee ballots have been sent out. I hope Rump doesn’t find out…
August 28, 2020 at 7:49 pm
My spawns stayed away from it. They have also opened wires wider ( say that quickly twice).
I already sent my ballot back, last week. I could walk it to town hall from my house if I had my back, but I’m sure it’s there though I’ll check just in case.
I won’t tell!

Just started watching the Rangers and the Dodgers on Jackie Robinson Day. A lot of things have changed since 1947 when he broke the color line. And not that much has changed.

In 1959, The Red Sox was the last team to integrate and they have a hideous history. Read Wikipedia. No one disputes it. Some teams in Boston, in New England, have changed. Finally!

A grand set. I was entertained by the Singing Postman but this is a veritable supermarket.

Rowen,
Thanks! I thought the set well mirrored my mood.
I don’t even go to the supermarket so this set is funny in a few ways.

Raining almost all day here today and it started when I was on my way home after work yesterday. It did stop twice and that’s when we went out for our walks.
I was planning to do the laundry today but so far I haven’t even come close to the washing machine and I had hoped to mow the lawn but the rain has stopped me from even getting the mower out of my car 🙂 🙂 It’s a good day 🙂
Have a great day!

Hi Christer,
I always like it when I don’t have to do my chores, when Mother Nature intervenes. My laundry is caught up for the first time in a long while.
The grass can wait!! It gets higher moo matter what we do.
Enjoy your weekend!
