“Cut round on the top near to the outer edge with a chisel and hammer.”
Everything is melting. The drips are falling from the roof. The snow is gone from the roads. When I went to get the papers, I easily pushed the snow off the windshield using those papers wrapped in plastic. The sun is so bright on the snow I had to squint. The high today will be 40Λ.
I didn’t go out yesterday, but I will today, to the grocery store for a few provisions. A snow storm starts tonight around eight, but I won’t get the heavy snow as it will turn to sleet quickly. The prediction is for 1-2 inches of kick away snow. The cold is coming back with a vengeance starting Tuesday night.
I’m in trouble. The best food to ward off inflammation is beans. I really hate beans except for string beans. They just don’t look like beans to me. String is the perfect description.
I want companies to hire older people, older like me, to test opening cans, bottles and packages. Today I tried to tear open a Henry treat bag at the indentation on one side of the top. It didn’t open after three or four tries so I had to use scissors on what was a reusable bag. Jar and bottle tops are often difficult to open. I turn and twist the top to no avail then I tap it on the floor hoping that will do the trick. I have a few gimmicks, tools, for easily opening tops, but they don’t always work either. Once I almost took the jar down the street to my neighbor, but that seemed too silly, and I’m not one to give up. On a few cans, the silver hand can opener won’t work. I think evaporated milk is one of them. My solution is to poke two holes, one on each side of the metal top, and wait for all of it to drain out of the small hole. Given all of this, I am willing to offer my services for a small fee to any company hoping to accommodate the growing older generation of baby boomers. I can see the ads now: Top tested by older folks and guaranteed to open.

They say that it mostly will stay above 32F the coming week, at least during the days so I do hope that the snow that will fall on Tuesday will melt away quickly, it has been so nice to drive on dry roads now.
I’ve always liked beans but my stomach has a tendency to protest wildly, still I do eat them quite often anyway :-9
Yes they really should hire older people to try that! I know that Swedish companies try new things on people with for instance rheumatic diseases but way too few companies are Swedish I’m afraid. Those reusable bags with cat and dog food and their treats are impossible to open without destroying them π Only the sack I buy for Albin actually works as it should, the rest are crap.
Have a great day!
Christer.

Hi Kat,
This is the first I have heard that beans protect against inflammation. I have a coworker who believes that inflammation is the cause of every disease known to man and he never mentioned beans as a prevention. He drinks, inhales via nebulizer and rubs his body with DMSO. He also takes a couple of hundred milligrams Benadryl daily to combat inflammation. The DMSO makes him stink like rotten eggs and he drinks at least a six pack of Diet Coke daily to stay awake after taking that much Benadryl. Everyone has some iota of weirdness in their personality but this guy gets the grand prize.
Senior citizens and people with disabilities should be consulted regarding all types of packaging design. We have several devices in the kitchen drawer designed to help open bottles which often work well after finding the correct tool to do the job. Buying a modern electric can opener solves the can opening problem and I have never opened a can of evaporated milk in my life. Also, I never had a reason to even buy a can of the stuff. My nemesis has always been opening a tin of sardines using that tiny attached key. π¦
Today is windy with a high temperature forecasted for about 40 degrees. The sun finally appeared around noon and the forecasted temperature for in the morning should be a record low of 22 degrees. Maybe this is winters last gasp of artic air.
