“There are two kinds of fears: rational and irrational- or in simpler terms, fears that make sense and fears that don’t.”

Sometime during the night it rained. I slept through it. The street and the yard were still damp when I woke up late, close to ten. The air is wet, humid. The sky is gray. There is a breeze but it does little to clear the air. Today is the last day of the heat, according to the weatherman. Tonight the temperature will go down to the low 50’s.

I filled all the bird feeders this morning. The bottoms of a couple of them had mold and the seeds were in a clump. I cleaned every one. Last I checked, the bird weren’t back yet.

Huzzah! Huzzah! The first load of laundry is in the washer. A second load sits on the floor waiting its turn. I can’t remember the last time I had so much laundry. These two full loads are testaments to my sloth.

In Ghana, I had my laundry done when I lived there and when I visited. During training we found women in the nearest village to do the laundry. Everything was washed by hand in buckets. The irons were heated with charcoal. It was the same forty years later.   On my last trip, shirts were 2 cedis, about fifty cents. Pants were four, a whole dollar. I came home with clean clothes.

I do everything I can to do nothing. My house gets cleaned and my yard is kept neat, except for the back which no one sees, and my groceries get delivered right to the kitchen. If I could afford more, I’d have my laundry done while I sat and ate bonbons.

I need bread, and I could go to the dump though I’m thinking tomorrow is the better day Just because I don’t want to go today.

I don’t mind clowns or bugs. I have a black cat. Heights don’t make me dizzy, but rides which go around and around make me throw up. Stopping at the top of a Ferris wheel isn’t a problem for me. I like the view. I don’t get the fear of spiders, but scorpions are a different story. Once I had a scorpion roaming on my living room floor, and my student killed it with my sandal. She asked permission first. I said yes because scorpions bite. Sometimes I hear noises I can’t explain. They give me pause. I lower the TV and listen. Usually I don’t hear it again. If I did, I’d pass it off as an animal or a bird. That’s the easiest answer and the one which doesn’t make me afraid.

While I fuss like an old chicken over the pricing of the Bob Dylan “Trouble No More” Bootleg Series 13, unable to decide on a fair amount … quietly it has been announced that Bob Marley at the Lyceum is to be rereleased on October 8 on two CDs (already on vinyl) covering both nights in July 75. A totally fab 7 track album now gives both complete shows for a princely $17.50. Yup im6 definitely the best version ever of “No Woman No Cry” and “Trenchtown Rock” alone is worth the price of admission.

One of my true musical regrets is that I did not see Bob Marley and his Wailin Wailers live in London in the 70s. Unfortunately, there was often trouble after the shows and I really didn’t want to deal with the agro.

Meanwhile in the football world Tottenham Hotspur travelled very successfully to Cyprus and came home with a 3-0 win in the Champions League. For Birgit’s BVB things were less wonderful at the hands of Real Madrid.

The weekend approaches and that is birthday eve for Mrs MDH. I am almost ready and then I can move right along to Christmas.

      My Dear Hedley,
I’m thinking you might better be described as an old hen fussing.

The Bob Marley album sounds like the better buy. Like you, I wish I had seen Bob Marley. Even listening to his music is enervating.

Tottenham is destroying the competition. Poor Birgit!

Do you have a gift in mind for Mrs. MDH? Has she given any hints?

I have to write down what I already have for Christmas so I can figure out what I need.

Hedley, no chance against Real, I followed the game on the radio. You know that the BVB will be highly motivated to win against Tottenham in Dortmund?

      • Hedley Says:

Birgit, first BVB needs to beat Apoel…then worry about my lot

Very pleased to see Bayern Munich in decline, maybe they will stop stealing your players

Today we finally got some rain and maybe cooler temperatures. I’m afraid of heights and would never get on a ride taller nor faster than a Merry Go Round. I never climbed onto my roof when I owned a house for fear of heights and of falling off the roof. I hired people to do that kind of thing. Climbing onto roofs is no longer required for home inspectors. They survey the roof with either binoculars or use drones.

My sister is also afraid of heights so I understand your fear.

We’ve had the best day. The humidity disappeared, and it is so cool I’ve had to shut my window here in the den. Today turned out to be the best fall day.

Wehaven’t had rain for a few days now and I don’t miss it a bit. They say we’ll get quite a lot next Monday but I am hoping they are wrong as always 🙂

I’ve never been afarid of clowns but I’ve never liked them and I’ve lost my fear of spiders, now I have spiders everywhere in the cottage 🙂 and I smile every time I hear a fly have been caught in one of their webs 🙂

The only thing I don’t like in amusing parks are the Ferris wheels. It isn’t the hight but I can’t say what it is, I just hate going up in one of those 🙂

I’ll watch Midnight, Texas again tonight. I didn’t miss it last Friday when I couldn’t watch tv so I guess I don’t like it that much 🙂

    Have a great day!

We have had great days since all those days of rain. I turned off my lawn irrigation as it isn’t hot enough for my lawn to need it.

Spiders never bothered me ever. I love their webs, the beauty and the intricacy. I think of the mov i.e. The Fly where the fly with the human head is caught in the web.

I don’t mind any rides except circles.

The books are good but I didn’t get into the TV program.

      Have a great evening!
