“The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month.”

We’re back from the appointment for Gracie at the vets. The good news is she didn’t have a stroke. The head tilt is probably from a lesion on her brain which may cause problems down the road, but she is fine for now. Her weak back legs are just that, weaker than her front. I should continue what I am doing to help her get around. Gracie was given a refill of her pain meds and got shots which were due anyway.

I had my MRI, but it is too early to hear the results. I figure there won’t be anything there, my lower back, as the earlier MRI’s showed nothing.

The most painful part of the last two days has been the $700 the two appointments cost me. I won’t ever be cured of that.

Yesterday it poured all day, a deluge to use my mother’s description, but today is the loveliest of days. The sky is a deep blue. The sun is bright, an almost need to squint bright. It is warm. When I left the house at nine, it was already 48˚. It is flannel shirt weather, a downgrade (or maybe an upgrade) from sweatshirt weather. I could do my outside work today. I still have that list, but I don’t want to for no reason except maybe relief. I was worried about Gracie. I still am, but it is a general worry about keeping an old dog healthy. The dread is gone. I just want to enjoy the afternoon, maybe sit on the deck with the sun on my face.

Lots of green shoots are appearing in my front garden. I saw the bumpy bud of a hyacinth this morning. Its color is starting to appear, a light purple. Daffodils are blooming. The yellow ones are first. The white ones are budded and waiting their turn. On my trip down Cape last Tuesday, I sat in a line of traffic on 6A. It was a long line so I had time to look around. I saw a tree with tiny, tiny buds. They were red and easy to see. I was thrilled. For me, that is the second sign of spring, after the bulbs flower.

My grass is squishy with mud. The ground wasn’t frozen when the days of rain began last week so the extra water just stayed right there, right on top, making the grass muddy. Footprints stay when you walk across the lawn. I try to avoid that.

I’m getting sucked in. I can feel it. Today makes me want to believe it’s really spring, but this is New England, and there are no guarantees so I’m still a bit skeptical, but the weather report is so amazing I can feel that skepticism draining away. By mid-next week, we may hit 60˚ and 50’s all the way to get there. That’s spring. No doubt about it.

We’ve had a lovely day here, sunnyand warm and without any wind. I took a long walk while waiting for my car to be ready at the garage. Spring has sprung everywhere here but takes it easy as usual since nights can be pretty cold here.

I wish they could do more for Gracie, it must be awful not to trust ones legs. I wonder if we should be happy about they not finding anything wrong with Your back or sad since You do have problems with it. If they found something they could at least do something but then again it’s not fun when they do find something either 🙂

My car repairs were cheaper, I paid slightly ledd than $ 200 today 🙂 A visit to the doctor never cost me more than $ 30. The vet is the same though.

When I got out on the net after coming home I then hear we’ve had a terrorist attack here in Stockholm. A man stole a lorry and drove over people. I’m glad I live at the outskirts of the world.

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Christer,
The clouds have taken over and the sun is gone. It is quite chilly out now. I just came in from taking Gracie into the yard. My hands got cold.

Gracie is still happy. She wags her tail every morning when we wake up just to say hello. She is still her hungry self. I feel bad for her as she was always so active. They did give me the mild pain killers Gracie had been on so she is taking them again.

I’m still reeling from the money I spent the last couple of days. That was extra for my savings-not any more.

I live in a summer tourist area, and there are crows in different places, but I doubt there are enough to attract a terrorist.

      Enjoy the day!

Its opening day in Detroit, and I am resplendent in my Detroit Tigers sweatshirt. Fat lot of good that does me as I am sitting at work while the Bengals play under blue chill skies at Comerica Park against the Bostons.

I wish bad things upon your team Kat for the next four games. If you are watching on Sunday it will be 70 F as the good guys go at your socks

      My Dear Hedley,
I watched the opening ceremony then watched my Red Sox go down in defeat, a victim of their bullpen.

I, like you, am wishing bad things but for your side, not ours. Yiu have mixed up the good guys.

      • Hedley Says:

Thanks for walking in the winning run and letting our shaky bull pen avoid two blown saves in one game

Time to catch up with AR – off to Brazil we go….are you watching im6 ?

      • katry Says:

        It was our pleasure!

I too will be in Brazil.

We should all be livid at the rising copays for medical treatment in this country. Our Republican House members are hot to kill any kind of national medical insurance especially Obamacare. We are the only civilized Western country in the world without a single payer national health care system. Here in Texas the Republican controlled legislature in the last session converted Medicaid to a managed care. In our county the only provider basically sucks. Bad service and very few providers. Thankfully, my disabled daughter is covered under my work insurance and Medicaid is the secondary insurance. The Republican Congress and the President are now gunning to screw up Medicare. Hopefully, it won’t happen because old people vote.

Beautiful clear skies with warmer temperatures in the low 80s.

      Bob,
I have Blue Cross but hadn’t met my deductable. Now for the rest of the year I only pay for the procedure. I am lucky with my insurance.

Massachusetts had mandatory state insurance under Romney. The ACA used some of its provisions. My sister complains. The Romney plan was less expensive than ACA.

I’m glad to read that it wasn’t a stroke and I hope it doesn’t get worse. Not glad to read/hear about Stockholm and Syria, the world is crazy. I saw a nice concert tonight, American singer-songwriter David Munyon was in town again. A concert full of peace and love, just what I needed today.

      Birgit,
Her legs scare me the most. I’m hoping the painkiller will help.

      The world is definitely crazy.

I find living on the Cape is quieter than many places, and I like that. My trips off cape are infrequent this time of year. When I was younger, I went all the time, and I’d stay with my mother and bring the dog. Now I’m content here.
