“If you can’t find an answer at the mall or the library, what does that say about the world?”
Yesterday I was the victim of a big cheat. The day stayed ugly and rainy. Not once was I tempted to go outside. I called my sister a couple of times, but she wasn’t home. She called me later and said since it was such a lovely day she had gone to church fairs. I thought she was being sarcastic. Nope! Her weather was sunny and 60˚ all day. What’s with that?
Last night was murder night. I watched Forensic Files, and when I tired of that, I watched murderous women and 48 Hours. I guess I was shaking away all that Hallmark sugar from the Christmas movies. Nothing like a bit of true crime to while away the evening.
I do have to go out today, but there is a bit of sun working its way through the clouds so I don’t mind. It will be cold this week, the 40’s during the day, and even down to the 30’s at night so any sun is welcomed.
The animals did it again. Maddie howled several times and woke me up. I called to her, but it didn’t matter. She kept howling with only small breaks in between. Gracie got off the bed and went downstairs, never a good thing. I followed her and opened the door. She went to the yard and grazed. I watched her then went back to bed. She came in the dog door, joined me upstairs and went to sleep. I did too, but the interrupted sleep just wasn’t enough. Maddie is sleeping now. She is comforted that I am down here with her.
Boxes arrive every day. My Christmas bins are overflowing. My list has mostly X’s across names as I finish buying for them. I am down to needing a couple of kids’ Christmas books, a few ornaments and some soap. I also need wrapping paper. I figure to shop on small business Saturday. My route will be down 6A. Visiting favorite stores will be fun. I’ll even treat myself to lunch.

I’m tasking – the snow blower now works, probably a good thing as the 72 of Friday was replaced with snow flurries yesterday. I have enough gifts for the advent box to cover Mrs MDH and the Prince. Gifts are arriving at my office and avoiding the scrutiny of the outer box. The Bob live 66 has made it to the house but will be saved until after the Christmas songs go away
The Prince and I went to The Palace to see our team go down to the Celtics. Once upon a time this was a rivalry with players we hated DJ, Ainge, and especially McHale. Now the Celtics have their own Zeke Thomas, it just doesn’t seem right.

My Dear Hedley,
I am a Celtic fan dating even before McHale and Aine. I go back to Cousy, JoJo, Tommy and Bill. I was glad to see the Celts had won. They have been having a shaky start.
My friends each have their gifts for each other delivered to my house. I got quite the chuckle one year when they gave each other a bowling ball. I did an Advent box for my mother each year.
I think you are jinxing the weather by having your snowblower ready.

Those Celtic teams were led by the great Red Auerbach. He was not only the head coach and he had no assistants, ran all the practices and did all his own scouting. When the Celtics won Red would light up his cigar on the floor of the old Boston Garden. They don’t make them like Auerbach anymore.

Bob,
Yes, Red was on the bench waiting with that victory cigar. When he stopped coaching, he still has his hand in every pie having to do with the Celtics.

Unfortunately, Arnold Jacob, Red, Auerbach died in 2006. He was one of a kind. Along with Tom Landry and Vince Lombardy in football along with Casey Stengel and several others in baseball.

They were iconic coaches and players.

Here the mornings are chilly, 40s and the afternoons are sunny and mild. Clear skies overnight allow the warmth of the day to escape dropping the overnight temperatures. Cloudy skies at night hold in the warmth from the sunny day.
Now that I’ve covered meteorology 101, my spouse can sympathize with your plight because she claims my snoring keeps her up. I don’t understand because I don’t hear myself snore. 🙂
I’m glad to hear that your family is doing their small part keeping our economy going by giving gifts during the holiday season. If we didn’t have Christmas we would have to invent something to get people to open their wallets and prevent a recession. 🙂
Watching the cardiac Cowboys play the Ravins. Good defensive game.

Bob,
We think the 40’s are warm for winter. Last nights cloudy sky just brought rain this morning though the sun is sort of shining. It is really windy which makes it feel even colder.
Gracie is the worst snorer of any of my dogs. I can hear her from her crate all the way down the hall. It is as if she is right beside me.
My mother always bought the best gifts. I can’t think of one I didn’t like. We try to follow in her footsteps. Our gifts are seldom stuff off the shelves unless one of us had asked for it, like my panini press. We have fun shopping in vintage and offbeat stores.
Enjoy your game!

We actually had a bit of sunshine today but mostly it has been cloudy. A storm called Angus is just passing here but they say it’ll be gone already tomorrow by noon. I can hear the storm roar but it doesn’t hit my cottage, just like I want it 🙂
I’ve mostly been catching up on sleep this weekend, Albin has woken me up almost every night this week, last night however it was too much water drinking before going to bed that woke me up 🙂 I do long for the winter solstice so it turns towards longer days again.
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
We are the same. The sun has disappeared. The clouds are back. I noticed the temperatures for nights this week will all be in the 30’s.
The howling is so loud it wakes me up. She does it several times in a row then stops. The howling has to do with her being alone downstairs. She even howled one day when I was upstairs taking a nap. I wish she’d join Gracie and me.
Enjoy your afternoon!

Hi Kat,
Can you bring Maddie upstairs or won’t she stay? Or does Gracie not approve?
You are Christmas organized for sure. My Christmas list is easy so I’m not worried.
Yesterday was beautiful up here. I didn’t even need a jacket to walk the dogs. It was even nice after the sun went down.
This morning it was completely different. It rained before dawn. The wind came up and increased over several hours. It’s cold. I can hear it whistling outside.
Since it was not a good day to be outside, I did inside chores. Dishes, laundry, cooking, yelling at Rocky for eating my knitting bag. Every now and then he regresses. It didn’t help that the bag had coffee caramel chip cookie smell on it. At least the knitting projects were undamaged. 🙂
Enjoy the day.

Hi Caryn,
I gave some thought to bringing her up, but I’d have to shut the door of my room and she’d be stuck with no comfy place to sleep. Gracie wouldn’t care if she got on the bed as Fern always slept on the bed and sometimes leaned on Gracie on cold nights. Maddie used to come out of the guestroom when Fern, Gracie and I went downstairs. I don’t know why she isn’t there now.
I got my cards yesterday so I can write them out next weekend. I also want to get Colorado stuff out the first week in December. That means marathon wrapping.
Your today was my today and my yesterday. I just let Gracie out, and it is quite cold. It feels wintry cold.
Gracie was always good about not eating stuff though she still garbage hunts every now and then. I leave the bag on the floor until it fills. She checks it out and takes what smell good and goes out her dog door so I won’t see her. The sly dog! I see the bottom of meat packages on the lawn every now and then. The evidence!!
Have a great evening!

Phew, what a weekend! Two big sold-out chorus anniversary concerts and a party (afterglow) tonight and I just had to walk home 40 min with my large backpack because the train was late and I missed the last tram. I think I’ll sleep for 24 hours now. I’ll listen to your music tomorrow.
It’s still to early to think about Christmas.
November 20, 2016 at 9:08 pm
Hi Birgit,
That is wonderful, the two sold out concerts. I bet you all sounded wonderful! Is that encore, encore I hear?
Before my back went bad, I walked everywhere including the 8 mile round trip to and from work. I also had a backpack but it wasn’t all that heavy.
How long would you have had to wait for the train?
I’d sleep too.
Colorado is my reason for finishingChristmas as I have to send the packages by the end of the first week in December.
November 20, 2016 at 10:15 pm
The train was just 20 min late but the last night tram was gone. Next tram about 5 hours later in the morning. Usually I don’t mind walking but I was exhausted after 12 hours today and 12 hours yesterday. High heels with 2 of the 3 costumes, my feet hurt.
I’ve just checked the Saturday photos I got and uploaded the first one:

Birgit,
I’d be complaining to everyone if I were walking after a day like yours. I’d probably wait for the train.
It’s a great picture. I’ll be happy to know what is written after you update the English.
