I rather like the song and discovered he has LOTS of recordings. But the most interesting thing I discovered in my investigation is that he is the son of bisexual Pete Shelley (solo artist and also a member of The Buzzcocks). Here’s his dad singing his almost-hit from 1981:

I also rather liked this song. I didn’t do any research so I’m glad you did. I also hadn’t heard of his father before this.
The two of them have some familial traits within their music.
