I’m Ghana wash that man right out of my hair.

This morning I was up at 5:30. My friendly rooster was right outside my window. He and I greeted the dawn together though I refrained from crowing. Last night I think it was a bird which made all the noise. I remember thinking I’ll never get to sleep, and that was my last thought before the day and the heat had me falling asleep despite the noise

I am at the restaurant, but no one is here yet so no coffee. As bad as the coffee is, I still  can’t start my day without it. I was even earlier than the sweeper. She bends over and sweeps the grounds every morning with a handful of stiff, dried reeds. She sweeps then collects all the leaves lying on the dirt around the hotel compound.

The breeze is cooler this morning, but it will be hotter than yesterday’s 95. We went to see the house Grace, my former student, is having built. That meant a short walk through the uneven grass. It was no ladylike perspiring. I was a sweaty mess. Getting to the taxi was no relief. It was a wreck with the windshield looking like crackle glass, no handles on doors, torn seats and no gas cap. At least the ride was cheap.

Today is market day. The town is filled with women carrying goods on their heads to their stalls. They are wearing a combination of modern, their tops, and traditional clothing, their wraps. The market is divided in sections. You can find everything, all sorts of food, fruits and vegetables, eggs which may or may have been fertilized, live chickens, pots and pans, bruni wawu, translated as dead white man’s clothes because why else would they give up such wonderful clothes, men who sole sandals with tire treads, seamstresses and Bolga crafts. It will be hot today, but I can never miss market day. I’ll go to the bank first of course.

Kat, when you are not dodging animals that might eat you, stand on you or wake you up, you will probably want to be alerted to your BoSox winning their division and preparing for another post season. Here in Detroit we have an Ark worthy deluge and our Tigers just one game out of the wild card with 4 to go including a matinee in the rain today

Tomorrow night, Mrs MDH and I go totally im6 and head downtown to see Brian Wilson at the Fox. Comes on at 8. takes a 30 minute break at 8:45 and finishes at 10:20. We are in the el cheapo seats so any low expectations are offset by the ticket price.

New album news is starting to flow as we approach the holidays, a 36 CD Dylan 1966 set, Kat Bush’s “Before the Dawn” and even ol Lenny is rolling out something.

For those that can listen to the BBC online, Van Morrison will be live on Radio 2 at 3:05 EST (8:05 GMT) and will play about an hour and a half. I am expecting lots of the new album which rolls tomorrow.

Stay out of the sacred Croc pool

      My Dear Hedley,
Last night we checked and we’re thrilled to find our boys had clinched the title for the first time since 2004. We also sat in an outdoor restaurant and watched the debate on YouTube last night. It was cause for much entertainment.

You must give im6 a play by play of he concert. I am chuckling that you are going to see Brian.

We haven’t gone to the croc pool. We had elephants, wild and not enticed by a chicken.

      Hedley,
too bad, I missed Van Morrison on BBC. I had a date with the killer rabbit instead, the Monty Python musical Spamelot was on our theatre tonight. Enjoy Brian! Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, dm dm doo doo do do do doo … Oops, wrong Brian.

      • Hedley Says:

Birgit…if you go to Radio 2 the Van show is up to play again, and it is worth your time

I will be generous to Brian tomorrow

      • Birgit Says:

Hedley, thanks but unfortunately the BBC player doesn’t work on my computer anymore since the BBC changed their website and they hide direct audio links too well. Livestream or nothing. I’ll keep my eyes open, sooner or later this Van recording will appear somewhere else.
Btw, Iggy is still on BBC radio 6 on Fridays 🙂

I’ve always wondered why people bother to talk to me at work before I’ve had my first cup of coffee there 🙂

Rainy and windtý here, can’t really say storm but it is rather close. Quite nice actually, especially since my neighbors cottage takes all the wind 🙂

Market day is always fun no matter where one is in the world but I’m pretty sure it’s much funnier down in Bolga, we are just too organized in the western world 🙂

Have a great continuing of Your trip!

    Christer.

      Christer,

It is too hot to describe. The sweat just runs down my cheeks. My hair is soaked. I miss the cold.

I was really hot after shopping and couldn’t wait o get back to the air conditioner.

We’re outside getting ready for dinner.

      Have a great evening!

Some Bolga market videos on Youtube, definitely more interesting than our market which is small and boring. Enjoy your time!
I also saw your debate live on TV. No comment, just: Good luck in November!
    Btw, funny post titles 🙂

      Birgit,
This market is so huge it is easy to get lost. It is noisy and wonderful.

Thanks for the elections well wishes. We are stuck with two candidates which don’t appeal to most of us.

Coming up with the titles is fun.

Loving the travel log. Wishing you safe travels.

Sounds like you are having a great time. The Rangers not only won the AL west but last night they clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Looking forward to them hosting the Red Sox in the playoffs.

Did you buy anything in the market? We in the first world sometimes don’t know how great we have it. Trump keeps saying he wants to make America great again. Who in their right mind would think it’s not great right now and has been during my lifetime. When I was in College my room mate’s father told us that he would give up all his modern conveniences except indoor plumbing. 🙂

Are you taking pics? Are you posting them?

      Gnu,
I have always liked this song. It is probably the only Toto song I know. The rainy season is spectacular.

    • katry Says:

      Gnu,
I didn’t recognize the name of the group, but I did recognize the song. I don’t think I have heard it in years.
