    Elfriede Jelinek quote

Elfriede Jelinek, political relevance combined with language wizardry. Meanwhile I’ve heard some of her newer radio plays and understand why she got the Nobel Prize in Literature. Still lots of her older books and plays to discover.

        Birgit,
I knew of her but didn’t know much. I had to do some sleuthing. I haven’t read a thing of hers.

Kat, I think Jelinek’s plays I’ve heard so far won’t work with different language and background, may apply to older ones too. No recommendation yet.

      minicapt,
I noticed the bakelite radio and wondered what year this picture was taken. I found a similar radio but no date.

My aunt had a similar radio but it was plastic and not bakelite. It had tubes, used several D size batteries and AM only. This was in the early 60s. I think the radio was from the mid 50s. I can’t remember the brand.

        Bob,
I remember a pink bakelite radio. Back then, there were only AM stations available on my transistor radio. I listened to WMEX rock and roll radio.
