“There are no ordinary cats.”

Fern is missing again. I think she is somewhere upstairs, but I haven’t been able to find her. Yesterday she was out early then a bit later. She ate, drank water and had all her medication. She slept on the couch most of the evening, her usual spot. I thought things were looking up but not finding her again has me frantic. Shortly I will go upstairs with my flashlight, call her and hope she appears. She has an appointment at the vets tomorrow. I called and said I’m not sure we could make it and explained why. They said they’d hold the appointment until tomorrow. Cats are tricky hiders.

The weather has been spectacular, but I’ve only been as far as the deck. The spawns of Satan have knocked plants off the deck rail breaking the pots, have broken glass candle holders and knocked stuff to the ground. Usually I am plagued by red so I was surprised when I saw two grey spawns running up the deck rail and knocking stuff off as they ran.

The night I didn’t go to bed I watched The Godfather movies in chronological order of events. The movies were on for seven hours, but I didn’t see the last hour, and now I’m sorry I didn’t think to save it. It has been a long while since I’ve seen any of The Godfather movies, and I’d forgotten how good they are. Al Pachino is amazing. He is also scary. I didn’t keep track of the bodies, but Michael is responsible for most of them. All of them were violent.

Well, I have to go hunting for Fern.

    Good hunting success!

Hot sunny ~92°F here today, the height of summer.
(Don’t laugh dear Texans, this is hot for us!)

The song of the day in Europe:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLQJVKP3YlM
It will be loooong night until we get the final result of the British EU decision.

    • katry Says:

      Thanks, Birgit

Wow, that’s even hot for us here in New England especially this time of year.

That song is used in a commercial here. I think it’s for a hotel.

There is a great deal of attention here for the result as well. Not so much as members of the EU but still plenty.

    • Hedley Says:

Birgit no Brexit in the Euros as England, Wales, N. Ireland and Ireland marched in to the round of 16, with England and Germany on a potential collision course in the semi final. The Scots are doing what they do best, failing to qualify and sitting home watching TV

I thought Bild was very funny today in their offers for the German people to get Britain to vote to remain including not using a goalkeeper at the next penalties event and offering to reserve loungers for the British using German towels

The money has moved sharply in favor of Remain, so I will be very surprised if there is another outcome.

Christer and Zlatan have both retired from the tournament so I hope he will enjoy watching our lot(s) trying to get to the Final

      • katry Says:

        My Dear Hedley,
I am glad you keep me updated on the tournament. I’m glad to find England and Germany are still in it.

I chuckled at your offers from Germany to Britain.

I’ll be watching for the outcome.

      • Birgit Says:

Hedley, I hope for Remain, Euro as well as EU, and I will gladly share towels but that goalkeeper thing is out of question! Don’t ever trust Bild! Or Germans. Too bad that Sweden didn’t make it. If our teams meet I may rethink my Euro remain for England and go with Dylan “If You Gotta Go, Go Now”.

      • olof1 Says:

Looking at the results live right now and leaving is still ahead by 2%. Not good for us Swedes if they leave, Britain is our biggest ally in the EU.

      • katry Says:

        Christer,
Well, the results are in and leaving won by such a small margin. What this will mean we’ll have to wait and see.

    • im6 Says:

Thanks for posting that song, Birgit. I’ve been singing it this morning wondering why it hasn’t gotten much (any?) attention here. Seemed like the perfectly natural choice. I guess the other option would have been The Animals “We Gotta Get Outta This Place.” Maybe that’s Fern’s theme song. 🙂

      • katry Says:

        im6,
Fern is hiding more than wanting out. I did find her and brought her something to eat and drink. I’m hoping she’ll come out.

      • Birgit Says:

im6, let’s see which song we will sing tomorrow 🙂

Just getting back from my Fathers Day lunch with my daughter and Youngest Grandson. Went to Bombay House, which is our default setting for lunch these days. They have the best buffet around, and the tomato-butter gravy is too good to have been made by mortal hands.

That, however, will not stop me from attempting to recreate it using tomato purée, plenty of butter, and some curry – with Garam Masala on the side … when I have it successfully replicated, I think I’m gonna make a few quarts and see about hookin’ up a huge Sippy Straw from my computer to the kitchen so I never have to get up to enjoy its tomato-y goodness.

Fern’s hiding. She’ll show up when she’s hungry enough. Cats like playing games with their humans.
Our WX is – hopefully – getting ever closer to ‘rainy’ … HEY! I can hope.

If y’ really wanna see Pacino at his evil best, check out his ‘John Milton’ speech to Keanu Reeve in ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ – terrific movie, btw. It makes his role in ‘The Godfather’ look pale by comparison. After all, what’s a mere human compared to The Dark Lord his own self?

Today’s Musical Divertissement is provided by Mr Pat Metheny and his Group … they join together to provide the musical equivalent of an instruction: ‘Follow Me.’ This is from the album ‘Imaginary Day.’ And now, to begin …

    • katry Says:

      Richard,
I have never heard of tomato butter gravy. I’m guessing it was Indian food. The Indian restaurant in Hyannis has a Sunday buffet. You reminded me I haven’t been there in a long while.

I found Fern under a bed. I had to find her with a flashlight. I gave her something to eat and some water.

Let me know about your efforts to replicate the gravy.

      I haven’t seenThe Devil’s Advocate. I am not a Keanu fan.

You post great music most of which I haven’t ever heard before.

      • Richard Says:

Kat, you’re right – it IS Indian food. Youngest Grandson has figured out how to use Naan bread to make the Indian food equivalent of a N’Awlins po’boy with the lamb meatballs that come with the tomato-butter sauce / gravy. I’ll let you know if my efforts meet with success. Should that be the case, I’ll post the steps here so you can try it yourself.

I’m not a real Keanu fan either, but Pacino’s performance as ‘The Devil’ / ‘Satan’ / ‘Lord of Darkness,’ etc is terrific. Watch it for Pacino – and Charlize Theron is pretty good, too …

I’m glad you enjoy the music … it’s all the fault of my somewhat eclectic tastes …

      • katry Says:

        Richard,
I buy naan every time I shop. It is perfect for slopping up gravy. I also make a pizza of sorts.

kay, I’ll swallow my dislike for Keanu and watch it if it shows up on my movie channels.

I’m glad for your eclectic taste. I get to hear new music.

    Hi Kat!

I do hope You’ve found Fern by now! I never find any of my cats when vet time is close, they vanish from the surface of the earth a few days before it’ll happen 🙂

It rained mostparts of the day yesterday, I didn’t mind since I felt likecrap anyway 🙂 I woke up three hours ago (around 2am) when coughing my lungs out. Suddenly I felt how my throat felt better and then the fever gave up 🙂 I do hope it stays that way now, the coughing will stay for quite some time though, it always does.

Too long since I saw any of those films. They show them every now and again on tv but usually so late and in the middle of the week that I can’t see the whole film.

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

    • katry Says:

      Hi Christer,
I found her last night and patted her, fed her and gave her water. She has a vet appointment today so I will start looking again. She tends to hide all day and comes out at night.

I want rain. We haven’t had it in so long. I’m the same with coughs. They seem to stay forever.

This was the first time I’d seen all of the fils together. It was great to see the start of Don Corleone all the way to Michael.

Still hoping that cough goes away.
