No Need for Panic in the Streets

Hello, Coffee Crowd, this is Kat’s sister Sheila coming to you with breaking news, literally, breaking news: Kat’s internet is down for the count. She is in the midst of an electronic meltdown. She asked me to post to let you know so that you wouldn’t worry. Right now, she is phoning Comcast and hoping they will have the solution to her problems. I’m sure she will give you all the lurid details later. Enjoy your day, dear friends, and pray for your Coffee Pundit to rejoin the internet highway soon!

Oh holy crap. Kat’s been having more and more problem with internet than she needs to worry about. You said the magic word, tho’: Comcast. God, I hate those people. They’re my [sic] ‘provider’ too. I’m about to ditch them for DirecTV ‘cos they’re nothing more than a pack of legally-authorised thugs who steal from you with a contract rather than a gun. I hope Kat’s back in operation soon, and thanks for standing in for her today.

Today’s Musical Offering is a tune by the Benny Goodman Quartet (Quintet?), and it showcases the talents of one Mr Charles ‘Charlie’ Christian. Charlie is the one responsible for singlehandedly turning the role of the guitar in a band from ‘backup’ or ‘rhythm’ instrument to a leading and solo role. Charlie wanted his phrasing to sound as ‘liquid’ as that of a saxophone or clarinet, and developed the technique that allowed him to accomplish that. In turn, others learned how to let their own musical ‘voice’ shine thru, and the rest is history. The Musical Offering today is one we played quite often in the clubs on Bourbon Street when I was an active musician. It’s official title is ‘I Found A New Baby’ – and we always referred to it as ‘I Found A Blue Baby’ … yeah yeah, I now – it’s not ‘politically correct’ … like that’s ever stopped me before. And now, to begin …

      Richard,
Come to find out, after many failed attempts, the technician said that there had been a short in the modem during the night. I had no On Demand, no phone and no internet. I had been whisked back into the mid 60’s where a color TV was a wonder. It was the only thing still working. Now I am here with all my wonderful electronic. Comcast got called this morning and was here by 2. I’m not complaining!

      Hi Charister,
It was a short in the modem which was the culprit. I now am back on line and have a working phone. I’m a happy woman!

      Thanks, Birgit

I’m here on line!! The modem was the culprit as it shorted during the night. I think it was a weird problem.

Don’t scare me like that, Sheila!!!!!

Knowing Kat’s propensity for falling, when you said, “literally, breaking news,” my heart skipped a beat. Sorry about the internet problems, but am glad that’s the only problem and not something… well, I won’t even say/write it!

Glad you’re back in the saddle, Kat.
