To sleep, perchance to dream

Last night I tossed and turned until sometime after 3:30, my last time check. It got me to thinking about not falling asleep. I decided I didn’t really toss. I mostly turned. I didn’t fluff my pillow. I folded it several times. I wanted the cold side. I don’t remember falling asleep. It was late when I woke up. It was after 10. Fern and Gracie were with me in bed. My room was freezing because I had left the window open all night, a cold night. It made me want to stay in bed, but I dragged myself downstairs instead. I still think I didn’t make the better choice.

Today will be a limited Coffee day. My Mac is stuck on the grey screen with the Apple logo and an incomplete upload. I’m using my iPad and am being driven crazy by the keyboard. Adult human fingers are too big. I touch multiple keys and produce nonsense words and syllables. My iPad is nice enough to offer suggestions for the words it seems to see, but none of them are real words. I am like the monkeys tapping keyboards who happen over time to type a Shakesperian play.

If I able to figure out my MAC, I will back.

Hot as hel here today and even worse at work. I think my brain and Your Mac might have the same problem today 🙂 I hope You can solve the problem!

    Christer.

Christer, hot as hell? In Sweden??? If you have heat to share just send it southwards, 14°C (57°F) here today.

      • olof1 Says:

Yes, we are all very surprised 🙂 It was much the same today until thunder arrived from west, still not here but on its way I think. I’ll see what I can do about sendinmg it south 🙂

      Christer,
I’m not having much luck fixing that computer. I have been all over the net and tried all sorts of suggestions, but I’m stuck.

I can’t believe how hot it is for you. We were hot today for this time of year, but not close to you.

I hope the rest of the week is more comfortable.

Good luck! We can’t celebrate Dylan’s 75th birthday tomorrow without you and KTCC.
    I wouldn’t mind 75 songs 😉

      Birgit,
I am not having too much luck. It has happened before, and I found a solution, but I did not bookmark the source. I am getting really frustrated and even more now that I know of Bob’s birthday.

Kat … sorry you’re having troubles again … here’s a link that may be useful – or not …

Here’s another link to a YouTube vid that addresses the specific problem you stated …

      Thanks, Richard

One of the pages was for a different operating system than the one I have. I read through the other, but I think it is a bit complicated for my quite meager computer skills. I’ll just have to keep looking.

    1. Rotate the iPad to horizontal, and the keyboard gets bigger. Unfortunately, your text area is reduced.
    2. You have a wireless keyboard? Turn the iPad’s Bluetooth on and let it find the keyboard.
    3. Richard’s suggestion in the video is good, but I would try “Repair Disk” before reloading the OS.

    Cheers

      minicapt,
I much rather have the larger keyboard. I am typing now with fingers which seem to fit. No, I don’t have an external keyboard d but this seems to do just fine.

I did the disc check and there were no problems. The mess started with an upgrade. I am massively frustrated.

    Hi Kat,
    Computer troubles. Ugh. Hate them.

I have discovered swiping on my phone and tablets. So much easier than tapping. I drag my fat finger around the virtual keyboard and sort of hit the letters I want. Then I check the line above the keyboard which shows me what the device thought I wanted to type. Usually it’s correct. The problem is that I am a QWERTY typist and my right pointer finger sometimes gets lost trying to find letters other than y,u,h,j,n or m. 🙂

Hope your computer decides to shape up.

    Enjoy the evening.

      Hi Caryn,
I took minicapt’s advice and repositioned my iPad. The keyboard is much larger now, and I can actually type.

I am taking a break from my hunting. This is majorly annonying!
