“Dress how you want to be addressed.”
The late post is due to my dental appointment for teeth cleaning which ended up being longer than expected. I had a problem area which necessitated a picture, an x-ray and a measurement between teeth. I now need a follow-up with the dentist after he tries to figure out from the pictures what the lump on my gum is. After that I went all the way down cape to Brewster to the book store to buy a birthday present for my neighbor’s son who will be 7 tomorrow. I treated myself and bought a new hard cover because I deserve it.
Today is in the 80’s but not as humid as yesterday. Opened windows are enough though I may need the AC in my bedroom tonight. Gracie’s panting is the deciding factor.
Many people are already here for the weekend as the weather is supposed to be pleasant and the water is still warm enough for swimming. I was amazed to see so many shop parking lots filled with cars, the same with the restaurants. I figure we’ll have another month of weekend traffic. I’ll just have to practice patience.
When I was a kid, girls wore dresses or skirts to school and boys wore collared shirts and long pants. Shorts were never worn to school or church no matter how hot it was. In high school I even had to wear nylon stockings as part of my uniform. None of us complained because that’s just the way it was. It was winter in my sophomore year of college before I was allowed to wear pants to classes. In Ghana I wore dresses all the time, but I never minded. I had a seamstress make them from native cloth, and the prints and colors were beautiful.
I would never want to go back to those days of dresses, but I’d like a few occasions when dressing up in good clothes is expected. I do it every Easter, but that’s about it. I have my summer dresses and my fall-winter dress sitting in the closet waiting for the occasion to arise when a dress is needed. I have good shoes still in their boxes, also patiently waiting. I even have some lovely necklaces covered in dust from being left in the drawer for so long.
I love living casually but a dress-up day now and then wouldn’t hurt, besides, I need to get my money’s worth for those dresses, shoes and jewelry.

Cloudy and very windy here today but rather warm so it was a nice day. More rain is on its way though so I’ll enjoiy the few hours of dry weather for as long as it lasts.
Even though there was a discussion on having school uniforms at my school it never happened and since we weren’t church going folks we always wore the same kind of clothes. I did have a short while of actually caring about how I looked when it came to clothes but I soon fell back to wearing comfortable clothes instead 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
It is still warm here but cooler than it was earlier in the day. I think, though, it will be my AC tonight.
I wore uniforms and I wore dresses to church; all the women did. Now everyone dresses as they want. I seldom wear dresses as I seldom go anywhere that necessitates dressing up.
I enjoy comfort more.

Hi Kat,
I have a few dresses that are casual and really for hot weather wear. For occasions I generally opt to wear slacks and a dressy top. I can’t wear heels anymore which pains me greatly as I have a fondness for cool shoes but I also have a fondness for knees that don’t hurt so flats it must be. Never with nylons or panty hose, either. I loathe nylons. Pantihose are just barely tolerable but I will pass on them.
I used to wear jewelry all the time. Rings on each hand. Multiple pairs of earrings. I stopped wearing rings when I began massage training and never went back to them. Somewhere along the way I stopped wearing earrings, too. Probably I got tired of pulling 6 earrings out so that the student massage therapist or my regular MT wouldn’t snag anything on them. The other day I put on one pair of good gold earrings and went about my day only to discover that I have apparently developed a sensitivity to something in the gold. My earlobes started itching and would not stop until I removed the earrings. This makes me a little sad. I have some lovely earrings. 😦
It’s sunny and warm here. I won’t turn on the AC because it will cool down after sunset. Fans are going, though.
Enjoy the day.

Hi Caryn,
My flowered dresses are perfect for warm weather, and I have a couple I bought in Ghana. Other than Easter, though, I can remember the last time I wore one.
I seldom wore heels. I couldn’t when I worked in school as walking was a big part of my job. I wore clogs generally. I still wear the wool ones in the winter. I always wear earrings. Gold hasn’t ever been a favorite of mine so most are silver or decorative.
The house is still a bit warm but far cooler than it was.
