“There is neither heaven nor earth, only snow, falling incessantly”

Last night it rained. I was hopeful we had escaped the snow, but this morning my hopes were dashed. When I woke up, I could see a layer of snow on the pine branches outside my bedroom window. It is still snowing, but we’ve been lucky. The forecast is for only 4 inches. That’s nothing but a mere inconvenience.

Snow quiets the world. I almost want to talk in whispers. Gracie’s gentle snoring is the only sound in my house. I haven’t heard a car on the street all morning. We are all getting good at hunkering down.

This posting is taking forever to write. I haven’t done anything or seen anyone in days. The phone has been my only connection to the world. I watch the news, but the snow is the only topic. If I have to look at another snow-covered empty road, I’ll spit. If I have to hear one more time there is nowhere to put the snow, I’ll scream. Enough is enough.

The no school announcements scroll at the bottom of the screen. They start the evening before and continue into the next morning, but even at 12 o’clock they still scroll. Why, I have no idea. I’d think by now everyone knows there is no school. The only scrolling should be for evening activities.

My friends have saved me. We are having game night tonight. First we’ll have burgers and pretend it’s summer. That’ll be a stretch.

    Hi Kat,
I was out at 8AM shoveling/blowing Phase 2 of Snowstorm 3. It wasn’t snowing very hard by then. Now it is coming down thick and fast. I will be doing Phase 3 before too long. :/

It is quiet out. Nobody has been down my street early morning. Not even a plow. The dogs are curled up beside me on the couch. Piki Dog is sleeping but Rocky is watching the Lippizaner horses on PBS.

There is laundry to be done and dishes. I don’t want to do them. I want to remain on the couch, wrapped in my warm shawl, cuddled with my dogs, dreaming of spring while not being able to see anything out the windows because of the white out conditions. 🙂

    Enjoy (?) the day.

      Hi Caryn,
I swept the snow yesterday, and, if I’m lucky, will sweep again later. It is coming down slowly.

The two cats and Gracie are all asleep. Gracie’s quiet snoring has gotten louder. I just put a pillow under her head and the snoring stopped.

I am going to make brownies for tonight. I found a great recipe I want to try. I’ll make my bed, and that will be it for the day.

      Stay warm and comfy!

I have been trying to rake the snow off the roof for the past two weeks. Today I removed another 14-16″, and the sun was trying to come out around noon. I’ll do the driveway later.

Why do all three broadcasters need to remind us that it is snowing and the roads are slick? And they all say there is no place to put it.
Our driveway has bankings too high for the snowblower to get over, so it just falls back into the drive.

We are headed to Florida on Monday.

Wow, how did you recognize the sun? Did it have a name tag?

I totally agree. I don’t care to hear about the snow or see newscasters standing outside talking about the snow we all can see. I get it-the piles are too high for more snow.

I haven’t really wanted to go to Florida but right about now I want some warmth, some sun.

      I know you’ll have a great time!

If this works, it might give you a bit of temporary relief from the chill part and maybe the snow part, too.

If it doesn’t work, please remove it.

Sunshine, wind free and spring warm here today. Too bad I need to work because it would have been rather pleasant to be out walking all day. The same is predicted for tomorrow and it looks like the winter will stay warm for quite some time. I’m not the one to complain about it though 🙂

Game night and hambnurgers sounds great! My work friend got tired of winter yesterday so he went out anbd started a BBQ 🙂 It smelled so nice when he heated up whatr was left in the micro wave today 🙂

    Have a fun evening!

Spring? What is spring? A metal coil? I can’t remember when we last had a warm day. We thing 35˚ is warm if only by comparison.

I can’t get to my deck to the barbecue or the bird feeders. There is just too much snow. I love the smell of food cooking outside.

      Have a wonderful nighttime.

  5. Kat,
I’m sooo tired of shoveling that I may be guilty of wishing this storm would move out to the Cape from here . . . faster. I’m sorry, but I can’t help it . . .
