“Fenway is the essence of baseball”

Today’s weather is a maybe day: maybe it will rain and maybe it won’t. The sun pops out then the clouds take over and the sun disappears for a while. Outside is warmer than inside. I was on the deck earlier scaring a chipmunk from the feeder. It took off like a shot and walked across the top of the fence to get out of the yard. It lives in my front lawn. I have watched it disappear down a hole and then reappear from a different hole. My landscaper wants to fill the holes in, but I told him no. The chipmunk is still cute though any future forays at the feeder will lessen the cuteness factor. Speaking of feeders, that red spawn hasn’t been back. I suspect it didn’t love being sprayed by the hose.

Last night was one of those twist and turn nights. I just couldn’t fall asleep so I turned the light back on and read until close to 3. Gracie was snoring at the foot of the bed and Fern was cozy in the comforter, purring as she slept. I was envious of both of them. I woke up around 9:30.

I am still randomly cleaning. This morning it was the kitchen which got my attention while I waited for the coffee to brew. I cleaned the tops of pictures, some knickknacks and the shelf on the side wall. It is the neatest shelf and was made by my favorite woodworker. The color is a sort of blue and it has hand-painted decorations. All strange sorts of stuff are on it including old cowboy and Indian figures like my brother used to play with, a Day of the Dead chef, a shell from the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, some really ugly Easter decorations and a small ceramic piece which sort of looks like a bulldog. The shelf has a string of pepper lights hanging from one of the hooks and is surrounded by shell lights. I light them more often in the winter to scare away the darkness. They look really neat.

Today I’m going to watch the Red Sox play-off game with my friends. The game starts at the crazy hour of three. I’m going to be super fan and wear my Red Sox shirt and hat. I’ll cheer and even groan, both of which come easily, as does an occasional swear. Go Red Sox!!

Kat, I send you and your Sox all good wishes against those naughty Rays. As you know the Tig’s begin tonight in the smelly sewage infested dugouts in Oakland.

I hope that the baseball Gods are kind and we have a chance for a Boston-Detroit series

      Thank you, my dear Hedley.

I also send you good wishes for a quick series with Detroit triumphant!!

      • Hedley Says:

I think that it was Boston and Detroit for the pennant in 67 before the era of the playoffs. Of course your Sox had that one

        My Dear Hedley,

That was The Impossible Dream Team with Yaz and Lonborg. I remember skipping classes to watch it at the local watering hole. The place was filled with fellow class skippers. It was a great series which would have been greater had the Sox won.

We’ve had the most amazing night skies here this last wekk because of the nasty cold weather, so I had decided to take some photos of the stars and galaxies tonight, so naturally we now have a warm front passing over us so no stars tonight and most likely not the coming ten days either 🙂

We don’t have chipmunks here so I think they look insanely cute 🙂 I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t if they lived here too 🙂 But we have our beavers even if they live far from my home but I’m not sure I would call them cute though 🙂

I’m holding my thumbs for the Red sox!

    Have a great day!
    Christer.

      Christer,
Isn’t it alway that way? You see something lovely that seems to hang around a white, you run for your camera but when you get back, it’s gone!

There aren’t any beavers on he cape as far as I know. I think I’d have to consider the chipmunk a neighbor as it has been here a while

Thanks for your help! The Sox won 12-2!!!

    Hi Kat,
I had one of those nights on Wednesday and it cost me some money. I woke up at 3AM, didn’t want to sleep so I got my laptop and started checking email. One was from Amazon about reviewing some stuff I had bought. What the heck. I spent a few minutes writing sparkling verbiage about dog toys and garden hoses.

Then I decided to clean up my Wish List.

    There’s that Cleaning Theme again.

As I was reviewing and removing, I saw that a handblown glass water kettle that I had been coveting (but could not justify buying) had been reduced in price since I added it to my wish list.
    Reduced from $134.99 to $74.99.
Still a lot of bucks for a water kettle.
    But it’s beautiful.
And it’s my birthday next week.
So, yes, I did buy it and it’s going to be delivered on my birthday.

Moral of the story: cleaning and organizing is expensive. 🙂

You are no doubt deep into Red Sox land at this time. I hope they do well.
    Enjoy the evening.

      Hi Caryn,
I almost went back downstairs but decided to read instead; like you, I might have shopped. You’re a woman after my own heart.

The cleaning has gone too far!!

I think you deserved to give yourself a present. I firmly believe that. After my third back surgery, I bought that $119.00 shower curtain . There is nothing wrong with treating yourself every now and then!

      Good reason not to clean!!

The Sox won 12-2, and it was a great game!1

      Hope your evening is wonderful!!

Today it was supposed to rain but it wasn’t even cloudy. We endured another 90 + degree day but it’s nice in the evenings. If the cold front makes it into our area we might have some rain tomorrow along with a cooler day. The Sox really took care of the Rays. My sister lives in Tampa and was a season ticket holder when my brother in law was alive. I haven’t heard from her since the Rays eliminated the Rangers.

      Bob,
We got the rain. Boston got it earlier in the day, and we got it in the early evening. It poured for a while then just stopped.

I just hope the Sox didn’t use up all they offensive power in today’s game. Price is pitching tomorrow, and he can keep the Sox from putting bat to ball.

I would have called a few times to tease!
