“She used to say she could taste sleep and that it was as delicious as a BLT on fresh French bread.”
This morning was a put a mirror under her nose to see if she’s still breathing type of morning. The alarm woke me at 8 so I could go to breakfast at 9, but I called my friend and cancelled. I was just too tired. Going back to sleep was no problem nor was sleeping two more hours. Even Gracie and Fern settled back down on the bed with me; however, I’m now awake and they’re not. Both are having their morning naps: Fern in the sun and Gracie in her crate. I can hear Gracie’s snores all the way down the hall.
Yesterday my friends gave me a birthday dinner. We sat on the deck and played our card game, Phase 10, before dinner and I won. The crowd cheered. Okay, no crowd was there, but had they been, they would have cheered loudly and maybe even given me a standing O. During the game, it started to rain, but we stayed dry under the umbrella. We heard the best of sounds, the drops of rain hitting the umbrella above us. It would rain then stop for a while then rain again. After the game, we left the rain and the deck and went inside for dinner. I ate only a little as I wasn’t feeling tip-top, but I did manage to scoff down the desert: lemon brownies. I got a plateful of dinner to take home so I’ll enjoy it today.
The only low point of the evening was the Sox lost to the dreaded Yankees. At one point in the game, it looked as if there would be a melee. That was right after A-Rod got hit by the ball when he was at bat. The crowd cheered the hit on A-Rod then the benches cleared and the bullpens came in just in case, but nothing happened except Girardi got tossed out for throwing his hat on the dirt in front of the umpire while he was screaming at the guy for not tossing out the pitcher. I understand his anger but tossing his hat is a bit childish. A-Rod later hit a home run, his sort of revenge.
Today is a take it easy day. I have a chore or two, but nothing imperative. I’m even thinking I might have an afternoon nap. The day is sunny but pleasantly cool and tonight will be even cooler, a good night for sleeping. That sounds most appealing.

Dessert will always go down 🙂
I’m trying to get used to my new glasses and can’t say it’s working that great 🙂 It feels like I’m rather drunk all the time and my eyes get so tired they don’t follow any longer 🙂 🙂 I do hope I’ll get used to them quickly.
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
Do you have progressive lenses? I tried them once but they just made me dizzy. I have bifocals instead. Nothing worse than feeling drunk without the fun of drinking the alcohol!
Enjoy your evening.

Yes I got me progressive ones and I had to take them off 🙂 I’ll try them tomorrow morning again 🙂
By the way! They’ll start showing the Scifi series Defiance here soon, is it any good?

Christer,
I liked it at first then I found it boring after a while.
I didn’t get used to the progressives though I know others who have.

I took the day off from work and I am also just having a lazy day. I never thought that throwing your hat at the feet of the umpire was an offense that would get a manager tossed. Now kicking dirt on the umpire’s shoes, that will get you tossed in a heartbeat.
Next season MLB will allow instant replay for all these close plays where the manager feels he has to confront the ump. Instead of coming out of the dugout screaming at the umpire, the umpires will go to the booth and watch the replay before making a final decision. No flags will be thrown by the managers like in football. Maybe the managers will get a red ball to toss when they want a play reviewed 🙂
I saw the play this morning on TV and it didn’t look like it was intentionally done. A high inside pitch to jam the batter is not the same thing as a bean ball.

Bob,
I’m glad you’re having a lazy day. We all need one every now and then to recharge.
I don’t know what he said to the umpire, but that could also be part of the tossing out. He was really agitated by A-Rod getting hit. I think he expected something.
There have been some really bad calls this year. The Red Sox lost a game because of one, and the umpire apologized after the game-that didn’t make anyone feel any better. I hope all the unions agree to this.
No, I don’t think it was intentionally done either. He was throwing really bad pitches at that point, even behind A-Rod on one pitch.

Hi Kat,
I greeted the dawn again today. It wasn’t as interesting as yesterday. I went back to sleep.
I tried to have a do-nothing day but Rocky wasn’t agreeable so I took him to the lake where he could run off some energy. He’s sleeping peacefully now.
Your birthday dinner sounded lovely, especially the lemon brownie part. 🙂 Sorry the Sox lost.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Hi Caryn,
I couldn’t believe how much sleep I had last night, and I’m still tired.
Gracie, like Rocky, has been quite the napper today.
The lemon brownies were so lemony they made my lips purse!
Damn Yankees!
Have a fun evening!!

Man, now I want a BLT (made with veggie bacon and garden-fresh tomatoes, of course)!

sprite,
I love BLT sandwiches.
This has been a bad year for tomatoes. Usually I have many, and I have had 2 this summer. In June we floated away with all the rain, and in July we all burned from the record number of days over 90˚.
