“Learn from yesterday, live for today, look to tomorrow, rest this afternoon.”

Last night it poured but not until well after dinner. It started about the time my guests were leaving. I went out to the deck after they had left just as the rain was starting and found the umbrella lights were on so I turned them off and brought in a few dishes I had left near the grill. This morning in the daylight I checked the deck again but everything had been cleared. I came inside, made coffee and went to get the papers. Just as I got back inside the house, it started raining again, heavily.

The rain has stopped now and the day is dreary at best. I can hear drops falling from the leaves. I feel a chill from the window behind me, the sort dampness brings.

Today is a day to stay off the roads so I’ll occupy myself here. I have a few books I can start and laundry I might do, but after all of my doings yesterday, a day of rest might be what I need. Dinner was delicious. The sausages were just right as were the peppers and onions. I had bought brioche rolls and I toasted them on the grill. I caught them at just the right time. I had the fixings for a salad, but we ate almost all of the cheese and crackers before dinner so no salad. Dessert was coconut ice cream with sea salt chocolate caramel sauce. We didn’t talk during dessert; we just ate.

The Red Sox capped off our evening with an exciting walk-off win. They were down 7-1 when I first checked and 7-2 when I checked again. We decided to eat dessert inside and watch the rest of the game. It was spectacular. People had left because of the score, and I suspect they’ll lie about it if asked. How can you admit you gave up on the Sox and missed one amazing finale?

Days like today invite lethargy. I’m not even going to get dressed. For lunch I’ll have a sausage sandwich and for dinner I’ll add a salad to those sausages. A zapping in the microwave and lunch and dinner will be ready. The cats and the dog are napping. They all had such strenuous mornings lying around doing nothing. They inspire me!

97°F, heat lethargy over here, just the fan is busy. I think I’ll have ice cream for dinner now.

36C!!! Tomorrow it’ll be hot here but we’ll “only reach around 30C (86F) I can’t say I look forward to it.

Christer, tomorrow we finally expect a thunderstorm and 25C, so if you need a cold rain shower (and ice cream) drive southwards 😉

      Birgit,
The rain has gone, and the sun is shining. It is over 80˚ but I don’t know by how much. The house is now warm, bordering on hot. I’m thinking air conditioner but ice cream sounds great!!

We had a cool and foggy morning up here so I decided I should fix the tiles on my roof. I hate going up there I had worked up my courage for several weeks and now it’s done and I don’t have to think about until some other tiles need to be fixed 🙂

I didn’t have any energy left after doing that so I’ve relaxed all day long 🙂 I made a mixed berry cobbler because I thought I was worth it after being up on the roof 🙂

I never leave any kind of game early. But since it is the best way to make a game change perhaps I should so that my team for once could win 🙂
Tomorrow will be nasty hot and will most likely end with thunder because it will be cool on Sunday they say, but who knows they are usually wrong most times so perhaps the heat will stay.
    Have a great day!
    Christer.

      Christer,
I read your blog early but I didn’t stop to make a comment-I’ll go back and do that. I didn’t blame you for being afraid to go on the roof. There are few ways to keep yourself safe if you start falling. The back of my house is so high even watching the roofers was scary.

A mixed berry cobbler sounds great!

We’re due for hot weather too until next week when it should be much cooler. The nights then will be great for sleeping.

      Have a wonderful evening!

    Hi Kat,
That sounds like a wonderful evening. Excellent food, rain that holds off until the festivities are over, good friends and an exciting ball game.

Nothing much happening chez moi today. Jeepeta is back in the shop so I’m home avoiding chores.
Rocky and I went on a stroll around the yard and I took pictures of a dragonfly. Just the one. It was a very obliging dragonfly as they almost always never are. 🙂

No rain here last night but it poured buckets this morning. I thought I was going to have to walk back from the garage in the deluge but it stopped in time. I picked up my breakfast from the little bakery on the way home.
Now the sun is shining and it’s a bit warm outside. Delivery pizza followed by homemade strawberry ice cream sounds like a perfect combination.

    Enjoy your afternoon.

      Hi Caryn,
It was a great evening. I loved that the rain was so cooperative. Now it is gone, and we have a warm, sunny day. I’m feeling tired and nap ready.

What’s with the jeep? You just got it back.

I didn’t even have the energy for a walk. I had the play Wednesday night, shopping yesterday morning then getting dinner ready and finally cleaning up though my friends helped by bringing in the dishes and such. I have learned that I need a nothing day after a busy day. I think my back is great then find out it is really not back to itself quite yet. I’m just a slow learned.

Rain here too this morning. Now it looks as if it didn’t rain at all as the sun has dried everything.

I think I’ll finish the crackers and cheese for dinner. I had a great one: asiago with rosemary and olive oil. Not much of that is left but there are also a couple of others. I’m not going to expend any energy!

      Have a wonderful evening!

The new fuel pump was a lemon and has to be replaced. At least that’s what they think right now.

I’ve too have learned that just because I’m not having a problem doing something today doesn’t mean that I won’t be having a problem tomorrow because I did that thing today. 🙂

      • katry Says:

I’m glad it wasn’t a new problem-at least they have to take care of the expense.

I laughed when I read your last paragraph. I knew exactly what you meant but someone else would be scratching his/her head!

Sounds like a great evening. I would make a special trip to your neck of the woods just to try sea salt chocolate caramel sauce on ice cream. Can it be ordered on line and shipped?

Everyone deserves a lazy day once in a while. Here it was, you guessed it, hot and dry. Unfortunately, our central air conditioning unit for the bedrooms died yesterday and will be replaced tomorrow morning. A surprise expense that we were not planning for. The unit was installed in 2002 with a ten year warrantee which has expired. To make matters worse the air conditioning unit for the other side of the house is not working as well as it did last year. When it’s this hot for this long a period of time even the mechanical devices rebel.

    Hi Kat,
I think I eat through your blog because my own diet is so boring, due to food restrictions. My mouth is waters when I see all the wonderful things people cook and eat ( with a few exceptions).

The days are sunny with a cool breeze. I am still hobbling around with a sprained toe. I did go to the nicest podiatrist, who even clipped my nails. I asked if he would come and clip Cookie’s nails and he laughed and started telling me stories of his cats.

    Have a great evening,
    Waving from Catafornia,

      Lori,
It really was just a simple meal on the deck but being outside adds ambiance and flavor! The night had a nice breeze, and it was pretty on the deck with the candles lit.

Gracie needs her nails done so that will be a chore next week.

We don’t have much of a breeze most days. This morning we did but then it got hot and humid. I turned my air on and the house is much better and comfortable now.

      Sorry you’re still hobbling!!

Have a great night too-waving back!!!
