“Basically, my life is so boring, it’s embarrassing.”
It’s still winter. The little bit of snow we had has frozen. It cracks every time I walk over it. On the deck, Gracie’s paw prints are permanently etched in the ice, and she too makes noise as she walks on it to go down the stairs. She goes gently down the stairs and walks on one side where there is no ice. Smart dog that Gracie!
She and I have a few things to do today so we’ll both bundle. She’ll wear her Pendleton wool coat with the stripes while I will be dressed far less stylishly in a flannel shirt and a hoodie.
This morning I have already been productive, an unusual event for this early. I took my shower and have just started my second load of laundry. The bed is even made. I have no explanation for this sudden burst of energy. It may be guilt over the number of days of sloth I have enjoyed of late.
My life right now is boring. I don’t even have a book which holds my attention. I keep picking one up, reading a few chapters then putting it down to try another. Nothing is on television, not an uncommon problem, but I would love a good movie to hold me enthrall for a few hours. I haven’t much ambition left for today. I already used most of it up this morning but did save enough for my few errands.
A few minutes ago, I heard a bang upstairs then something falling. Some excitement I thought. First I accounted for all three animals: Fern on the couch pillow, check; Maddie on the seat cushion, check; Gracie with me, check. Then the two of us, the dog and I, raced upstairs, but I found nothing. Neither did she as Gracie just sat on the bed and watched. I checked the eaves but nothing there either. I am perplexed.
The washing machine just sounded. It’s time to move the clothes to the dryer. I guess I’m done here for the day.

I have those days too. When my attention seems to wander like a young child.
Today its not snowy or even raining. But not sunny too. A high temp. they say of 48,so as your laundry is complete now Kat, think of yourself as this parody song of 1965 by the Detergents.

morpfy,
I had forgotten all about this song. Thanks for the reminder! Now I think Leader of the Pack isn’t all that bad after listening to this one.

Sunny most of the day and almost 32F. The snow on the roofs has almost melted away totally now. But its still a long time till spring I’m afraid.
I haven’t had any energy today either. I did what I had to at work but sort of dragged myself through my chores. I think it’ll be an ealy night and hope to get more energy tomorrow š
Zone 7! Almost tropical š š I live in zone 4 but pretends its 5 š š š
Have a great day!

Christer,
It stayed above freezing today but it was really cold. You’re right about spring being a long way away!
I’m still a little bored but I did have a nap which made the afternoon go quickly.

You aren’t allowed “dull days” in retirement. Perhaps you’re just taking a slow mo for the moment. Did you check the fire stack on the roof? Ours was brick and when a brick broke free in winter it shook the house as it fell. I was rather shocked to see the list of narcotics Whitney was taking or got prescriptions for by doctors. Three of them were what I took when I was on Chemo. I guess she abused them, became addicted, or took too many at one time. Sad.

Z&Me,
Later I found a flat piece of wood on the floor of my bedroom. I looked everywhere and can’t figure out where it came from. There is a wooden bookcase but it was intact. I’m still perplexed.

Last night we had a few sleet showers but the ground is too warm for the ice to stick, thank goodness. The drive to work took a lot longer even though the roads were clear. I think a little rain and fog causes everyone to come out and drive crazy.
I can understand boredom and why retirement will bring it on faster than working. There is no boss checking to see if you actually finished that book or that you did your laundry and made your bed. You don’t have to fill out a self assessment form from HR because that the raise you deserve is not going to come this year. You don’t have meet that quota which will be raised next quarter. You don’t have to worry that your increase your productivity will be accomplished by increasing your hours worked. Your CEO is not going to get that bonus if you don’t finish some project around the house. Since you are among the retired, you can sit back and relax because you deserve the time to do nothing if you choose.

Bob,
It stays cold-35° right now though it feels colder. When I went out today, it felt warm in the sun. The dog was even panting in the car so I took off her coat.
You are 100% correct-I deserve to do nothing if I so choose, and I don’t feel guilt over doing nothing. I figure I’ve earned the right. Some days I seem to have a lot to do while other days I have little. It was a 4 errand day today plus the stuff I mentioned. All in all it was productive but dull.

Your life seems anything but boring..I put the detergent song on FB. I still need to do my laundry.. it’s been years. :'(. I think my apartment my be haunted..yesterday my internet went down and this time I couldn’t fix it. AT$T planned to come on Thursday, but I am too addicted for that, so I asked my mac friend guru to help. We had to go to the store “Worst Buy” and get a new modem. After a few hours it was fixed. When I woke up this morning it was broken. It seems like the plug where the modem was inserted ( on a power strip) was dead. Now fixed.
Waving…

Lori,
It sounds like a gremlin! They get into wires for the fun of it. Power strip, like everything else, die. Sometimes it is the socket, sometimes the bulb.
I guess if I am not doing something every day it seems boring.
Waving back!
