This and Arlo Guthrie’s version of “City Of New Orleans” are racing neck & neck for the title of best railroad song Ever. As I kid I used to get the lyrics of this mixed up w/”Casey Jones”, resulting in some pretty confusing renditions!

Buzz,
The Arlo song is one I also love and have played it here a couple of times. I think I’m partial to that one by a whisker as they used to say.
I’d love to hear those lyrics!

I like Arlo and Johnny, but consider this a vote for Gordon Lightfoot’s Canadian Railroad Trilogy.

Bob,
I like that song and have played it on the old blog-probably more than once.
