I saw a group named The Spinners in 1966 in the first few weeks of my first year at Manchester University. However they were a folk group from Liverpool. They had great success with songs such as “Dirty Old Town” and “The Leaving of Liverpool”. As kids, we used to love games too. My maternal grandmother visited us rather infrequently, but often brought us the latest thing in games. I especially remember her giving us Cluedo when it first came out. Our friends all loved the game and we often played on Sunday afternoons. Our climate woes here continue. Now around 45 Million people in the UK are officially in drought conditions. Many of the rest, including my area, will soon be under similar rules regarding water usage.
Peter,
I saw The Spinners, the US Spinners. They actually had several hits. They were renamed When they had concerts in England. They were called The Motown Spinners. Now I know why.
I only know the Pogues’version of Dirty Old Town. I’ll have to check out The Spinners version.
We had a cupboard filled with games. I still keep some in my closet. My friends and I used to have game nights on Saturdays in the winter. Sorry and Pahse 10 were usually our choices to play.
My concert was at the perfect time yesterday we had a wonderful breeze.
