“You say today is Saturday? G’bye, I’m going out to play.”

What a delightful morning it is. The sun is bright in the clear sky. The blue is deep and lovely. A strong breeze is keeping the heat a bay. It is 73 degrees, close to 75, the expected high for today.

My computer saga continues. Last night the charger quit charging. Its cord is frayed. I am using my iPad. I thought I had a second charger, but I’ve looked everywhere I would have put it, no luck. I’ll have to pick one up but not until tomorrow.

Nala and Henry both like to nap on my bed. If one of them is missing, that’s where I look. Last night it was Nala. When I went to bed, I noticed my sheet was sandy, obviously Nala wasn’t polite enough to wipe her feet before she settled on the bed. I vacuumed. When I woke up this morning, Nala had her head resting on my back. I’ll have to get her a pillow of her own.

When I was growing up, Duke, our boxer, was not allowed on furniture, but that didn’t stop him. He’d sleep on the couch at night and jump off before he got caught. He’d lie across the bed with only his back feet on the floor. The poor boy was deprived.

On Saturday mornings, we used to eat our cereal in the living room in front of the TV. I remember keeping my bowl close to my mouth so I wouldn’t spill. Those mornings are the only time we owned the TV. We got to watch what we wanted. Many, back then, were westerns. We got to watch Sky King fly the Songbird. Annie Oakley was a sheriff. I was always a bit amazed that a woman was a sheriff who could shoot and catch bad guys. Rin Tin Tin was a dog against whom all other dogs were judged. ‘Yo, Rinty.” It never seemed odd that his person was a kid in the army who always wore a uniform. We had horses too, Fury and Flicker. I remember Circus Boy, but I didn’t remember it was Mickey Dolenz, the Monkees Mikey Dolenz. I had favorites, The Lone Ranger and Sgt. Preston of the Yukon.

After breakfast and a morning of TV, it was time to hit road, metaphorically of course. I’d mount my trusty steed, my bicycle, and explore my world.

    Hi Kat,

It’s only noon and already the temperature is a sweltering 101° with a forecast high of 106°. According to the weather prognosticators, there’s no relief in sight nor is there any rain forecast through the first week of September. The huge heat dome of high pressure is just sitting above the state of Texas.

Saturday mornings when I was kid were very similar to your Saturdays. My sister and I sat on the floor in the den watching kids shows on our monochrome TV while eating over sweetened cereal from a bowl. All of the local school districts are back in session because every school is air conditioned. I really feel for the high school football teams who have hopefully been practicing for the fall season in the early morning hours.

Sorry to hear about your power supply wows. I have a 2010 iMac upstairs that I hardly use any longer. I do everything on my iPad. Have you thought about just buying a Bluetooth keyboard for your iPad?

BTW, I’m watching the Red Sox playing the Yankees in the Bronx. It’s on ESPN 1. The Yankees are stinking up the American League East this year. My Texas Rangers have been at the top of the American League West since April 9th. Occasionally, the gods of baseball will permit a miracle to happen. 🙂

      Hi Bob,
It got a bit chilly this afternoon, low 60’s. I’d gladly share with you if I could. Tomorrow the high will be 80. We are due for more rain on Monday.

September 8th is the start of school here. None are air-conditioned, but it doesn’t get insufferably hot. The after Labor Day start is because of the tourist industry. Years ago everything closed down after Labor Day so kids stopped work then. Now the season actually continues into October. Fall is the season of the busses.

I actually have an iPad with a large keyboard. I did buy an external keyboard for my previous iPad which had a smaller keyboard. I gave my sister both the iPad and the keyboard. I prefer my Mac as the music postings are quick and easy on that computer.

The Sox have beaten the Yankees for both games so far. If they win tomorrow they take the series. The Yankees were projected to be much better than they are. The Sox were not. Being on s always a delight!
