      MDH,
There are certain things that make Coffee. It has become a place for us to gather filled with friends and traditions. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for Argo’s Thanksgiving Day song. Your posting it is a better tradition than turkey.

Yes, you are so right. Bad me, I haven’t listened to the full version of it. When I lived back East we had a DJ– Alison Steel, who I think would introduce this song.
    Thanks,
    Lori

The whole song has to be heard at once to get the story. I love this, especially when he might have been drafted. I don’t think I have heard the shortened version, I can’t imagine what would be taken out of the lyrics.

    Kat,
I just listened to it again, and for some reason the song made me sort of cry. I think I’ll find a version, where he is singing it. I’ve seen him many time, mostly with Pete Seeger. He came here and I saw him doing mostly new songs. His daughter is a singer, who may be on youtube.
    Much Love,
    Lori

      Lori,
This is Arlo’s song, not anyone else’s, so I don’t know what other version you are looking to hear. He is singing it.

I haven’t seen him at all. I didn’t think he has had many new songs, but as you’ve seen him several times you’d know.

    Kat,
What I meant is I want to hear him sing it to an audience, which I’ll do later if I wake up!!!
    Take Care,
    Lori

Arlo Guthrie – Alice’s Restaurant (Live at Farm Aid 2005) https://youtu.be/-yLg_bzwvxg

Here is the link to a live performance. I am surprised he didn’t sing this in the performances you saw. It is just about his greatest hit.
