Ahhh Bruce, and so we have discovered that ol Bruce authorized Ticketmaster to use progressive pricing for the tour next year. After being “accepted” as a verified fan, you were granted access to ticket sales where a demand algorithm accelerated pricing in to four figures.
Last week I held the code for Detroit and Mrs MDH had the Madison Square Garden. Wednesday I followed process and then failed to write down the correct access code and got blown out of Detroit tickets.
Friday was the turn of Mrs MDH, and of course she followed it all and got us in to the MSG for $250 each. We have always wanted to do this and now wait for April 1 2023. How well did she do ? Well the tickets are trading at 5 times what we paid.
It’s been a long journey from the first shows at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1975 but here we still are.
Wow, kudos to Mrs. MDH. You must be a patient man given the wait between then and now. Of course, you could make all sorts of money if the need to sell arises.
That is quite a process to get tickets, but I get that this I such an historical event for you!!
I know I didn’t dream it… I saw something somewhere yesterday where authorized tickets are going for FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS each. I know it costs a lot to put on a big show, but this just screams “greedy bastard” to me. Of course, Bruce isn’t alone in this. I’ve completely given up on the music industry. I’m pretty sure I’ve been to my last concert (Pink Martini).
I can’t even remember the last concert I saw as it was so long ago. I’m thinking maybe David Mallet in a small venue in Eastham. The idea of having to pay $4,000 for a single ticket boggles my mind.
im6, The progressive pricing system has pushed out tickets at $4,000 and more to the willing “verified fans” who are anxious. In real terms Springsteen is asking fans to pay scalper prices for the shows. We got away relatively cheap and seeing him at the MSG will be a bucket list event
Meanwhile over at Steve Hoffman Music forums, there are some awful images on Brian Wilson being helped on stage with a walker and then sitting motionless and voiceless behind a piano.for 55 minutes. A truly sad ending and with cancellations of future shows the thought is that Wilson has finished. We shall see.
