“I feel like I’ve swallowed a cloudy sky”

Today is warm at 47˚. It will stay cloudy and warm all day. Rain is a possibility tomorrow. We are stuck in an ugly weather pattern. Yesterday was another day like the day before it and the days before that. Today is the same, cloudy and damp. I am living in a Ray Bradbury short story, All Summer in a Day.

The weather is getting to me. I’m grumpy. I need a bit of sun to sweeten my mood. I gave the dogs their beef bones a little bit ago to keep them occupied. Nala is already tired from her bone and is falling asleep on the couch with her head resting on her bone. Henry is still gnawing.

I have a couple of errands today. I’d rather sit at home in my cozies and read, but I’ll dutifully complete my two errands and then I’ll need a nap.

When I was a kid, this week would have been a disappointment. With no snow, there was no sledding; with warm weather, there was no free skating at the swamp or the park. I rode my bike when it didn’t rain, but that wasn’t enough. The day was long. I’d ride to the library in the afternoon, looked through the stacks, pick a book then sit down to read at one of the long wooden tables. I always sat in a captain’s chair, the chair with arms. After a while, I’d take the books home, sequester myself in my room and read away the afternoon. That sounds just like my plans for today. Some things don’t ever change.

My house needs cleaning. I walk around with my eyes straight ahead so I don’t have to see the clumps of dust chasing me. My kitchen floor is hidden under muddy, but dried, dog prints. Rain is not predicted today so I might just bite the bullet and wash the kitchen floor, but I have an out. It may rain tomorrow bringing more paw prints.

My life of late has been quiet. My dance card is empty for the week. Mostly I’ve been home. I take my shower and change from set of cozies to another. I do everything I can to do nothing. Ponder that for bit.

We have had warm winds and drizzle/ misty rain here all day and a fog that really was a disappointment 🙂 but the snow is melting away so who am I to complain 🙂 I do wish for a warmer beginning of next year, I’m already tired of winter 🙂

    Have a great day!

      Hi Christer,
The sun never showed up but neither did the rain. The weatherman says rain tomorrow or Saturday and no sun until Monday. I wake up and hope for the best and have been disappointed with the clouds.

Our winter, while not warm, is not winter cold either. We have had only one frost so far. I am amazed at this winter so far.

    Hi Kat,

We are in a warm and sunny weather pattern. The cold weather should return around noon on Saturday. I’m tired of being at home. Everyday this week my better half asks me what my plans are for the day. Every day I answer none and get a scolding look. I will probably go back to the office tomorrow just to get out of the house without my family. I need to prepare for Monday when work resumes. 🙂

      Hi Bob,
I am a firm believer in not needing plans for every day especially now with the world in such upheaval. When I was working, I was busy all the time including the weekend when I had to do errands and chores. Now I love all the free time. I do a list for the week and hope to finish it, but if I don’t so what!

We’ll have a cold Monday, down to the 30’s, but it will get back to the 40’s on Tuesday. This is a weird winter for weather.

    Hi Kat,
Same same here. The sun showed itself for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon but otherwise it’s been dreary and damp. In the spirit of things, I decided to update my Mac OS the other day. It was the usual mess of confusion and waiting around while watching the progress bar move not one atom’s width along the line. Four hours later it was more or less complete. Except that it keeps asking me multiple times in a row to log into Podcasts and I don’t want to. I’ll google that later.
I’ve managed to get dressed in public clothes, do the dishes, fetch the laundry from the dryer, and make a pot of white bean soup with ham and chorizo. There’s a lot of dog hair floating around that I should vacuum up. Maybe later. No paw prints. I put that down to Rocky’s avoidance of wetness and two water hog mats on the porch which they cannot avoid. Piki Dog avoids nothing.
    Have a great day.

      Hi Caryn,
Today stayed no better though it wasn’t so cold. I ended up staying home. I didn’t feel great, not enough sleep. I did take a nap and woke up feeling much better.

My Mac updates itself. I just go to bed and Voila! I wouldn’t have the patience to wait for it. I haven’t even checked what the last OS was which uploaded.

I know people who love podcasts. I haven’t yet gone in that direction. I should check podcasts as I might find something interesting.

All I did was change into clean cozies after my shower. I had crackers and cheese for dinner. I did clean the stairs but figured that was enough.

My backyard is wet in places, especially near the small part of the driveway behind the gate. Both dogs run there, and Henry has his tree there, his pee tree. My tile floor is disgusting, but it is supposed to rain tomorrow so it makes no sense to wash the floor. I will as soon as I can.

Have a wonderful Friday and give thanks this year is ending.
