    Unfortunately, there are so many things about this song that are not PC. It’s a good song and brings back memories of African American men who made their living shining shoes and sweep floors in barbershops innthe 1950s in the segregated south.

      I don’t think I ever saw a shoeshine boy. There were a few set ups with permanent chairs in the railroad station, ut that is it.

      Times and customs change. That seems to be what is happening,
