For the house of MDH, Land off a 1,000 dances means two things
The Wrestling Album – Back in the day of Mean Gene, Jessie the Body Ventura, Hulk Hogan et al (1985) this song lead off side 1 and our oldest played it to death.
Meanwhile Mrs MDH and I associated it with
2. The J Geils Band played this as part of their rocking live act . It was captures on a live record called Showtime recorded at Pine Knob in Clarkston MI and we are at the show. the band were near the end as Peter Wolf prepared to head out, but boy were they fun
MDH,
Thanks!! I did spend some time researching this song. I listened to a few including Wilson Pickett’s. This choice was so simple.
It doesn’t surprise me that you have memories with this group. They seemed Hedley-ish when I heard them.
I find it wonderfully amazing that you were at Pine Knob in Clarkston MI for the recorded live show. Do you have a copy of the record? I have a copy of the only one I made, the Christmas one with Guy Lombardo.
Lately I have been delving more into song history and finding groups I either didn’t know or had forgotten about, This song is one of those.
