“There is profundity to explore, but also laundry to do.”

The rain started a couple of hours ago. It was an easy rain then it got heavy. Even Nala wouldn’t go outside. She poked her head out the dog door then backed inside. Her head was wet. I’m wearing my sweatshirt.

Nala and Henry are getting along wonderfully. Henry was even licking Nala’s head. They sleep beside each other on the bed leaving me scrunched. Last night Nala and Jack faced each other with the gate between them. The gate has a hole so the cats can move in and out of the room. Jack was maybe three feet from Nala. That gave me hope then later Nala chased Jack.

When I was a kid, my dog Duke, my first ever boxer, was the best protection. Nobody got near the house without Duke’s notice. He ignored passer’s by but loudly announced anybody coming toward our house. Boxers are fierce looking. Duke’s bark was deep. Some people just turned around. Nala doesn’t bark yet or maybe she is just being polite as Henry barks and scares people. They leave boxes away from the door. The two of them, Nala and Henry, stand together looking out the front door surveying their yard, making sure it is safe. Henry gives warning. I always check.

I’m glad I didn’t wash the kitchen floor yesterday, the one sunny day.

I have two cookies, both cranberry-oatmeal. They are the sum total of sweet food in my house. I feel bereft. Where is the chocolate?

My laundry sits in the hall in front of the cellar door. I walk by it several times a day. I give it a quick look. I have no guilt that the laundry has been sitting there close to a week. I still have clothes left, that’s the barometer for needing to do laundry.

When I was in Africa, I didn’t do my laundry so maybe this reluctance started back then when the only way to wash clothes was in a bucket. I saw it done, my impetus for paying to have my laundry washed by someone other than me. That also including ironing. Hand washing makes wrinkles. Charcoal irons are sort of neat, in an old-fashioned way.

Today I have to go out. It would rain.

    Happy World Bicycle Day!
Quite a lot of rain was predicted when we did our bike rally today on a tempory pop-up bikelane but the rain never came 🙂 It’s dark now and I can see lightning and hear rolling thunder in the distance but rain still hasn’t started. I hope we’ll get some rain, my rain barrel and plants need water.
I’m glad to read that Nala and Henry are happy and you all get along together well.
I hope you found or got some chocolate by now, it’s more important than laundry 🙂

      Hi Birgit,
No, the rain came here instead so not a lot of bicycle riding. Here on the cape we have a great bike trail. I have made it from Dennis to Ptown a few times. I liked the latter part of the trail as it was flat through marshes. It is a neat ride.

The two dogs are wonderful together. Henry runs and Nala runs after him. They sleep on the bed with me.

Chocolate chip cookies with tons of chips did the trick.

    Hi Kat,

Today was partly cloudy with a high of 80°. We’re getting a break from the rain for awhile. I’m sure more is on the way before the real summer heat arrives.

You’re lucky that your two dogs have become friends. Hopefully, they will give you back more of the bed when they realize you’re the alpha dog. 🙂

What, no chocolate? That’s a revolting development. I’m not a fan of oatmeal cookies at all. Which patriot said, “Give me Oreos, or give me death”. 🙂 I don’t like oatmeal for breakfast regardless how much fruit, sugar, honey or milk I throw in the bowl. It’s still, gage me, oatmeal 🙁

When I was single I only tried doing laundry once. No one told me that you can’t wash a red shirt with white underwear simultaneously. For awhile I had wrinkled shirts and pink underwear. Finally, I took the shirts to the dry cleaners and the underwear, socks, sheets and towels to the laundromat where the bundle service lady kept everything separated and beautiful for a small fee. 🙂 Early on I realized the advantages of hiring experts to do the things that I’m either too clumsy or too ignorant to accomplish.

      Hi Bob,
It was damp and chilly today. Right now it is only 66˚. The heat wave is coming this weekend. Boston will be extremely hot, but the weatherman did say it would be cooler on the cape. Thank God for the ocean.

I’m trying to have the dogs sleep on the other side of bed than mine. They each have one side of the couch. I get the middle. The shrink vet did recommend a female dog to give Henry some company. He is enjoying her so far, not so the kitties.

The cookies were good given they were all I had. Today I had groceries delivered which included cookies, chocolate chip cookies. I am happy!

I saw a sign for laundry to be washed and folded. I almost thought to bring mine, but I didn’t. I’ll do it myself this weekend. I don’t have to use a bucket.
