When The Saints Go Marching In: Louis Armstrong

The original title of this song was When De Saints Go Marchin’ In. I guess it got prettified. De makes perfect sense to me. The Ghanaians always said De so it was dem and dose instead of them and those. The reason is simple. They have no TH sound in their own languages so they don’t know how to form it with the tongue and teeth.

When I saw the Danny Kaye movie on Red Nichols, this duet with Armstrong blew me away . . .

I have always liked Danny Kaye but don’t think of him or see him much. When I do, I’m always a little surprised at how much I like his voice and his humor. I should keep White Christmas in mind.

      This is wonderful.

A wonderful version. Danny Kaye was a great comedian and Pops just played right along. Thanks for this version.
