“The monster nevers dies.”

Today is rainy, around 48˚, sort of warm. Right now I am being entertained by the movie Reptilicus. I’ve laughed out loud at some of the scenes. The screaming, running crowd scenes are fun to watch, but my favorite was when the monster broke through the roof of a family home and snatched the father. In the next scene the monster’s mouth was open and was holding a cartoon father drawn straight from a comic book. The father cartoon slid down the monster’s throat. The soldiers are using machine guns to try and kill Reptilicus who is in the process of destroying the town. I’m thinking they’re in trouble.

When I was a kid, I loved Saturday Creature Feature. There were always two movies. Most were black and white films from the 50’s, still my favorite science fiction movies. Invaders from Mars is one I watch every time it is on TV. Why I don’t have my own DVD is a mystery to me. I did buy one copy for my sister as a stocking stuffer. “It’s a good thing they are no more like him,” is the last line in the movie. The last scene is of the bottom of the ocean and a baby Reptilicus.

Everything is quiet. The only sounds are raindrops and the clicking of my keyboard. The house feels cozy and warm. I have a light glowing in each room. Clear candles shine in the windows. They are lit all day all year.

I have no to-do list, but I do have a couple of projects. In here, in the den, are two wooden boxes filled with records. I want to go through them and see what I have. I do have a turntable now. I still need to move cookbooks to make room in the kitchen bookcase. That one is a bit away.

I talk out loud to Henry even if he’s not in the room. Sometimes I have a great idea and tell him, but I should write it down. I forget and Henry can’t tell me. What a disappointment.

Today I am dining. My menu includes pork, mashed potatoes and peas. I will sit down to a late afternoon dinner. It is Sunday after all.

The Prince dropped by and we watched Mortal Combat. He is going to be 15 in August. I am not sure if he enjoyed the movie or the pleasure of turning towards me every time there was a new moment of outrageous violence or potty mouth. It’s a long way from Snow Buddies but I am lucky he will still do things with me

He is particularly entertained when I ask sometime particularly stupid such as why Godzilla was in this movie. Of course we have watched Godzilla v King Kong together with equal glee

Movies ? Time for the oscars.

      My Dear Hedley,
I haven’t seen any of the movies but I am watching the Oscars. It is an interesting format except the speeches of thanks are the longest in history.

Ryder, my grand nephew, will also be 15 this summer, a soon-to-be sophomore in high school. My sister says he is an amazing kid.

It is good to hear of you and the Prince hanging out together especially watching Mortal Combat. That gave me a chuckle.

    Hi Kat,

Today flew by and I accomplished nothing. My daughter and I had a picnic by the lake and then I sat outside on my patio reading until the sun started going down. I ate a frozen thing for dinner while my wife watched all of the pre Oscar stuff on TV.

The weather was gorgeous today. Clear skies, temperatures around 80° Low humidity with a light wind.

I have no interest in the Oscars so my daughter and spouse are watching up stairs while I am watching The History Channel downstairs.

Tomorrow, I’m teaching our “New Hire Instructor” course to new hires in Phoenix and in Toronto remotely from my classroom here in Dallas. The FAA will also be watching from their home to approve the entire process. I guess my traveling days are over.

      Hi Bob,
I did nothing today as well, but I didn’t go out. It rained all day and into the early evening. Henry was wet every time he came back inside the house.

The picnic sounds wonderful especially on such a nice day. I would have preferred your weather. When it is warm, I like to have my morning coffee on the deck.

I watched portions of the Oscars. I kept hopping back and forth between a movie and the Oscars. The winners for the most part had the longest acceptance speeches on record.

Maybe there are still travel days coming. The schools are mostly all open so maybe it will be the same for you and your students.

Once the FAA approves remote learning for our instructor training course, my company will not permit me to travel to save money. We are already conducting recurrent ground school remotely to our customers so that the pilots only have to come to Dallas for two days of simulator flight training. Those customers love it because it saves money.

I’m sorry. I know how much you love flying.
