This Is Roller Skating

Okay, this is quite long but well worth the look. The black and white film is a history of skating and of my childhood in some ways.

    Hi Kat,
    I have no memory of ever rollerskating. I wrote another post about the hokey pokey, but I can’t find it.

      Hi Lori,
      I’m surprised you didn’t roller skate, but maybe it was popular in other places. Skates were usually a Christmas present.

    No persons “of color” in the film. I like the kid wearing a Davy Crockett shirt.

      In Stoneham when I grew up, there was only one family of color. The rink was in Medford so maybe it was the same in that town. I didn’t meet my first person of color until I was in college. Stoneham was Irish and Italian.
