“The nap is a sort of easy version of meditation.”

The morning is chilly but pretty. The sun and blue sky have stayed around for another day. It is good to see the sun again, but I wish it had brought a bit of warmth. Yesterday was a banner day. I went to the dump which had not been on my list. I was out and about and decided what the heck. The dump was quiet.

I may go out again today. I think that ties my record for going out two days in a row. I want a trophy.

When I was a kid, I never really minded winter except when it rained. That was the worst. I’d get wet and cold and even start shivering on my way to school or when walking home at the end of the day. Once I was home, I immediately stripped off the wet clothes, got into my pajamas and under my bed covers where I’d read or even nap under the warmth of the layers of blankets. I still love to get cozy under the covers, and I also love to nap. As for pajamas, I stopped wearing conventional pajamas a long time ago. I prefer the t-shirt and flannel pants ensemble complemented by my sweatshirts. I do try to match the colors of the shirts and pants. I don’t know why: maybe it’s my weird sense of fashion.

This is sleep time for the cats and the dog. After I woke up and before I went downstairs, I greeted Gwen in her self-imposed exile. She got some pats and treats. Henry and Jack got their morning treats next. I have created two monsters who come running at the sound of rustling paper, and a running Jack is not a pretty sight. He is upstairs now with Gwen taking a morning nap. Henry is just chilling which means he is chomping on his bone beside me on the couch, a little snack before nap time. When I take a nap, Henry and Jack always join me.

Yesterday I was in line to sign up for the vaccine. My wait time was three months. I didn’t wait.

    Hi Kat,

You do know that you can sign up in more than one county in the State for the vaccine. I would Google “Covid vaccine sign up sites Massachusetts”. It’s not that big a state that you couldn’t drive to another county to get the vaccine.

Sometimes, I will doze off while watching TV and won’t even notice it. My wife says I snore but I don’t believe her. 🙁 I enjoy a good nap. I think we who follow the “Puritan” work effort are stupid. The Latins have the right idea. They close their businesses at one in the afternoon. They go home, eat lunch and take a siesta. Then they reopen their businesses at 3t or 4 and then stay open until 8 or 9 and then have a late dinner. We’re too concerned with making money instead of careing for our physical and metal health. 🙂

Last night it poured with lots of thunderstorms. But we needed the rain. It’s cloudy now and the high is in the upper 50° range. This is more normal for February around here.

      Hi Bob,
I spend 4 hours in a rabbit hole trying to find a site. I used sites with available appointments as my filter. I can choose any site in the state, am not stuck to one county. When I look for available vaccines, I get the whole state. That didn’t matter yesterday. Now I have to wait until next Thursday to try again. Luckily, in the middle of March, they are adding the first mass vaccination site here on the cape. The lack of one has caused all the problems.

When I was in Ghana, the post office and several stores closed from 12 to 2. I was still teaching at those times so I never ran into closed stores. In the dry season, that is the hottest time of the day, and with no air-conditioning and no fans, taking breather is a necessity.😊

It stayed in the 30’s all day today. Tomorrow it is supposed to be warmer and rainy.

    Kat,
I will send you a trophy. I hope you get the vaccine soon. On Facebook I declared it National Sloth Day– you may have seen it. The politicians have been doing it for years.
Sunny days, though we really need more rain.
    Take care,
    Lori and Ms. Cookie

      Lori,
I haven’t been on Facebook today, but I will check your sloth day post. I love sloth days!

Sunny and cold here, and now it is colder in the dark.

      Stay safe!

The morning here today was much like Yours, chillyu but sunny. Now the clouds cover the sky and only chilly is left 🙂 Still above 32F so I’m not complaining.

They will call me when it’s time for me to get the first shot of vaccine but as it looks now that won’t happen until autumn. There seems to be problems making the ammount of vaccines that they promised before. Well perhaps a new mutation arrives so they will have to start all over again, the Brazilien mutation seems to not care about people being vaccinated, it makes them sick anyway.

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Hi Christer,
It actually got warmer during the day. Right now it is 47˚ and the rain has stopped. It is supposed to rain again tomorrow and maybe Monday. I don’t mind as I have no plans for any of those days.

Vaccine is released to sites on Thursdays so we all make a mad scramble, but there isn’t enough vaccine for all of us over 65, the phase we are in now. The claim is by the end of summer everyone will have been vaccinated, but there are people who said they will not take the vaccination. I suggest we find them an island where they can infect each other.

      Take care!
