“This recipe is certainly silly. It says to separate the eggs, but it doesn’t say how far to separate them.”

A storm is coming. It could be snow or rain or a combination, but it has started out as rain. The sky is a light grey but darkening. The wind is picking up. The trunks and tops of the pine trees are swaying. It is an ugly day all told.

This is sloth time. I haven’t anywhere I need to go. I have nothing I need to do. I’m staying in my flannel pants and sweatshirt, but I’m thinking that’s no different than most of my days. I’ll get off the couch for meals and the bathroom.

Henry naps during the day upstairs on my bed. Gwen still hides in the guest room, now Gwen’s room. Jack is upstairs sleeping near the heat. Given how big he is and how much fur he has, I would have thought he’d be naturally insulated.

I don’t like pancakes even with butter and syrup. Something about their consistency makes me gag. It is the same with waffles though I do love a waffle ice cream cone. My favorite breakfast is eggs over-easy, crispy bacon and dark rye toast, but I won’t turn my nose up at French toast. Once in a while I do love eggs Benedict or eggs Bennie, the more familiar title.

I am a pizza fan, but I don’t do Hawaiian pizza. It’s the pineapple. My favorite is one with caramelized onions and any sort of meat. I lean toward sausage or hamburger. I sometimes make pizza at home. All the ingredients are usually in my larder, and I do caramelize the onions.

My favorite ice cream changes. For a while it was mint chip. Coffee chip is my current favorite, and I have some in the freezer. When I eat my ice cream, it swims in coffee syrup, a treat from when I was a kid. My mother used to buy coffee syrup when I was a kid. It came from Rhode Island. We put it into milk. In some store, I don’t remember which, I saw coffee syrup and bought it. I have been putting a stream of it on my coffee chip ice cream.

The snow has just started, big fluffy, wet flakes I can hear hitting the roof. Hey Google says 2.2 inches on Cape Cod. When Google speaks, Henry always looks up.

    Hi Kat,

I wonder if anyone has calculated the average number of hours that a dog sleeps in a day? I would wager it’s close to 20 hours. Maybe that’s why being lazy is called having, “Living a dog’s life”. 🙂

My favorite breakfast is just like yours except I like hash brown potatoes with my bacon and eggs. I can eat pancakes, but Belgium waffles with butter and syrup are a terrific substitute for the bacon and eggs. Eggs Benedict should only be eaten out on special occasions. The best version I ever had was at a restaurant in the French Quarter of New Orleans called, “The Court of the Two Sisters”. I believe that there are only four totally unique American cities. New York, San Francisco, New Orleans and San Antonio Texas. Everywhere else could be anywhere such as Dallas, Denver or Lincoln Nebraska. Every city has some unique locals, those four are totally unique everywhere.

Without a doubt, any version of chocolate ice cream is my favorite. Sometimes, I like Rocky Road or German Chocolate cake, but my all time favorite is Chocolate with Chocolate chips. The best version is prepared as a hot fudge sundae with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry on top. That’s a chocoholic delight.

Tonight’s the Super Bowl and I’m rooting again for the Chiefs. The Grandfather of the owner, Lamar Hunt, was the founder of the AFL and the American Conference trophy is named for him. Also, Lamar invented the term, “Super Bowl”. He was playing with his kids in their garage in Dallas with a toy called, the Super Ball. It would bounce very high and he coined the name Super Bowl from the name of the toy. That’s the legend. Also the Kansa City Chiefs started out as the Dallas Texans in the American Football League.

Lamar Hunt’s father was the richest man in the world in the late 1950s from oil royalties from the vast East Texas oil fields. That’s how Lamar was able to start and own a team. He along with Al Davis of the Oakland Raiders founded the AFL in 1960 when the NFL refused to expand the league. Supposedly, Lamar lost a million dollars after the initial AFL season. His father was asked by a Dallas Morning News reporter what his thoughts were about his son losing that much money. He replied, “At that rate he’ll go broke in the year 2350”. 🙂 A little history to enjoy along with the game.

      Hi Bob,
Well, I sent Google hunting, and he found: dogs sleep an average of 12-14 while cats average 12-16.

Parts of Boston are unique places, older than most other places across the country. The city built roads where paths had been made so some streets are narrow, many are one way, and others wind around the city. Go to the North End for Italian, then to Chinatown and finally the South End for ethnic food. I brag about Boston being one of my favorite cities in the world.

I also like hash browns with breakfast. Lots os places add them automatically to every breakfast. There is a place called the Keltic Kitchen which has the best choices ever for breakfast.

This coffee chip I’m eating is scrumptious, but I also like chocolate with chips ice cream. Hot fudge is a perfect topping though I sometimes add marshmallow instead of whip cream.

I’m okay with either team as I really don’t much either except for the Tampa quarterback. Thanks on the coining of Super Bowl.

That’s a great story. His father had a sense of humor!

Unfortunately, H.L. Hunt didn’t have a sense of humor and was a far right wing nut case. He hated Jews, Catholics, Blacks and most of all he equated them all as communists. He especially hated unions, civil rights, socialists and communists. He supported the John Birch Society, advised and supported Republican presidents and started the first right wing radio network, “The Liberty Network”. After his death his Dallas family discovered that he had another family in Florida that he had kept secret all those years.

His prejudice and hate don’t surprise me. If you’re going to hate, you might as well hate everybody. His second family did surprise me. What a son of a b….!
