“Heat not a furnace for your foe so hot that it do singe yourself.”

The furnace is blasting still. Every time it turns on I can hear the rumbling, the groaning. I called the fix-it company and am waiting for a call from the repairman as to an appointment to replace the groaning part.

Cloudy again and clouds are part of the whole week’s forecast. The temperature will be in the 40’s during the day.

When I was a kid, I’m sure we lost electricity and heat sometimes, but I don’t remember other than Carol, that fierce hurricane in 1954. I know it was in late August because my sister had just been born and was still in the hospital. I remember my parents glad she was there as the hospital had generators. My father took my brother and me outside during the eye of the storm. We were the only people out on my street. I think that was when I understood eerie. The air was perfectly still and the sky had an odd color. I was excited to be out during a hurricane, during a storm which toppled huge trees on my street. My father used to park on the street in front of the house, but when the hurricane was coming, he parked his car in the lot at the top of the street. No one ever parked there. That was the only time my father did. We used to roller skate and play games like Green Light and Red Rover on that lot.

I went to the dump yesterday. My passenger seat, the back seat and the trunk were filled with boxes and bags of newspapers and trash, mostly heavy bags of gross kitty litter. I had trouble lifting a couple of the bags over the top of the metal trash bins. I had to use two hands to lift the bags. Last night my back complained, and it really hurt when I moved. My ah, ah, ah’s got Henry’s attention, but he was a bit bewildered by my tone.

Today I was actually going to do some errands, but I dare not leave the house until I hear from the repairman. Meanwhile, I’ll just hang around and watch TV. I’m thinking it might be movie time, a distraction from my furnace and the news.

News Flash: I got a call. My needed furnace part been found, but it will take a day or two for it to arrive. It was close to $500.00. At least I don’t need a new furnace yet!!

Snowed like crazy yesterday, today it rained and the smaller roads were pretty nasty to drive on. It’ll be really fun tomorrow morning because it’ll all freeze again during the night.

We have new and stricter rules on how many are allowed in stores over here now, each customer must have ten square meters of space. Naturally we walk beside each other while shopping because that seems unavoidable. So my grocery store are allowed to have 53 customers in the store at the same time. I was told that when I come after work there will be no risk of having to wait to get in 🙂

    Have a great day!

      Christer,
I hate the weather you described. It happens often here. We get rain instead of snow, and it freezes overnight.

The smaller stores list number of people allowed at the same time. Masks are always required. I tend to shop at small places which have things like household goods made of driftwood and neat stuff like that. I don’t ever go to the big stores. I have food delivered and the deliveries are mostly free.

I hope the vaccines are distributed enough so my age group gets close.

      Take care

    Hi Kat,

Today the sky is clear and those who got some snow around the area had fun while it lasted. Some areas actually received as much as three inches of snow while we got a trace of snowflakes. The high today will be in the mid 40s.

Have you considered purchasing a home warranty? When we bought this house we had the seller pay for one year of the home warranty. In our previous house he kept it up ourselves. You may be able to get one that covers only the mechanical portion of your house in case the entire furnace or air container needs to be replaced. Now that R22 Freon is banned, and the stuff that’s still in storage is as expensive as gold fuel ding an old AC system may be very expensive. Therefore, you may want to get a home warranty that covers the old R22 Freon or it may be cheaper to replace the entire AC system.

Working from home again this week :-(. I may go into the office to get away from my family. You know the saying, “Fish and family stink after three days”. 🙂

The roll out of this Covid-19 vaccine is a joke. We are on the county’s list and haven’t heard anything except that they received our requests. My sister, the now quiet Trumpster, indicated on her Facebook page that she already has gotten her first shot. She lives in Florida. Of course Florida must have gotten the most doses because it’s the land of the retired old farts.

Today, the House of Representatives are drawing up articles of impeachment for Mr. Trump and asking the Vice President to invoke the 25th amendment in an attempt to punish him for inciting a coup. I don’t think that there’s enough time nor are there the votes in the Senate to convict him. Hopefully, even if he tries to pardon himself, the state charges in New York are not pardonable by a President. He will hopefully have to dance to that music beginning next Wednesday at noon. Unfortunately, he knows how to tie up things in court and may never have to pay for any of his crimes. 🙁

      Hi Bob,
It was cold all day today. I was out just to get my papers and mail. It is supposed to be in the 40’s for the next few days.

I have a hoe warranty on my kitchen appliances: dish whee, refrigerator ad stove. You are right. I can extend the warranty to cover more by paying more. I just don’t know how much.

I remembered a Charlie Chan aphorism similar to the tis and family one: “Bad alibi like dead fish – cannot stand test of time.”

One of my high school friends who lives in Florida already got his as did another friend in Arizona. They are both our ages. My state’s web site says February to March for my age group. There is no way yet to register as I do keep checking.

He will be impeached, but not convicted again. I don’t know what it takes, but we just have to wait until the new senate. Times they are a changing’.

      • Bob Says:

I like that old Charlie Chan saying.

I paid an extra amount at closing to get the highest level of coverage for the first year, even though the previous owners paid less. I think the renewal rates are higher than the original premium, but I’m not sure.

I doubt the Senate will convict him because a conviction requires a 2/3 majority vote while impeachment in the House only requires a simple majority. The Democrats just don’t have that many Republicans who would stick out their political necks to actually dump Trump even at this late date.

What I am hoping for is that the Republican Party splits into two parties. One containing slightly right of center members who the far right wing now calls “RINO”, Republicans in name only and the other group, the far right wing nuts, such as Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley.

      • katry Says:

I suspect Hawley’s senate career will not be a long one.Even his hometown newspapers have repudiated him. As for Cruz, he has few friends left in power.

We will never get enough Republicans. I wonder what it would take.
