My very uneven love affair with Joni Mitchell really began with Court and Spark. A little bit of dabbling with Blue and For the Roses . I guess it was her movement into rock and Jazz that attracted my attention – as well as a fine turn of ankle in the famous swimming pool picture for Hissing.

You know I am a long time Joni fan. It started not with her first album but her second as that when I first found her. Clouds went with me to Africa and, luckily, lasted the whole time despite the heat and humidity. Blue is my second favorite album but would have been first except for Ghana and the nightly playing of Clouds. The rock and jazz took me a while to enjoy. They just didn’t sound Joni to me at first. I bought Hejira.
