The first time I ever saw a video of Bill and His Comets I was struck by how old they looked. In this video, the dancers too look a bit older than teen rock and rollers.
This is a great song. I looked up the title. It came from the 1930’s. Who knew?
Straight out of Detroit, Bill Haley was around 30 when he did this and Rock around the Clock the movie. See you later alligator became a catch phrase that was much used.
No question that country singer/band leader/ rock icon Haley was on the front end but within a year a certain fellow from Tupelo Mississippi blasted past ol Bill with the looks and moves and action that blew everyone away
Chuck Berry was blasting through the barriers with Maybelline and Roll over Beethoven
Once the dam holding back rock and roll broke, It did indeed change fast. I don’t remember Bill Haley first time around, but I remember him from later when I was older. I don’t know why I never liked Elvis. I love Chuck Berry.

Wow, this was one of the first Rock and Roll groups. One O’Clock Rock is considered the first Rock and Roll hit.
