  2. Bob Says:

A friend of mine in collage was the son of an orthodox Rabbi. When he was kid his mother sent him to the store to pick up a can of baked beans. He brought home a can of pork and beans. His mother asked him how could he tell if this was can kosher. He replied that it had an ‘R’ inside a circle on the label which meant, “Under Rabbinical Supervision. 🙂

Smart kid about the R but not so smart about the pork accompanying the beans.

Even though I ate them, I often made pork and beans for barbecues. I have an old bean pot I use.

Unfortunately, the R in a circle stands for registered trademark. Kosher is either a K or a U in a circle. The U stands for the union of orthodox congregations.

        I never knew this. Thanks!

Heinz baked beans on toast.Be liberal with the butter

I was totally grossed out by this. I still am disgusted at the thought of those beans by themselves let alone on toast with butter.
