I never figured out what happened to the old Christy Minstrels. 🙂 Yet another terrific group.

Thanks, I just never thought to Google it.

When I bought my first Mac in 1985, I thought how wonderful it would be to connect to a library and ask a question and someone would get the answer. Connect referred to an 800 baud dial up modem. Today, with, high speed connectivity, the Internet and Google we can just do it ourselves. 🙂

I often Google songs when I am trying to find the singers of a song I want to post. When I get the list of singers, I hunt down videos of the original singers. I am amazed at what I find. People have uploaded amazing music by the original singers from the early 1900’s, sometimes even earlier. YouTube is a treasure trove of music.

Look at the song. That was the key to these singers. By the Beautiful Sea” was first published in 1914 and was originally recorded by the Heidelberg Quintet, topping the early American music charts for six weeks in the summer of 1914, during the outbreak of World War I.

This old, really old, song needed The New Christy Minstrels. Sorry!
