“I’m just really a lazy homebody.”

Okay, today was another mirror under the nose morning. I slept until after eleven. My guess is all the activity of the last couple of days did me in. I shopped, schlepped bags into the house, and yesterday I was on my feet cutting up veggies and fruit for dinner and going back and forth to the deck bringing stuff. Luckily one of my friends cooked the dogs and both of them cleaned up the deck at the end of the evening. I sat like a queen on her throne.

The movie Dick was well received as I knew it would be. We laughed a lot. I so love my movie set-up. It is such fun watching a movie outside. Last night there was even a little breeze so the leaves rustled a bit. We could see fireflies and hear the night sounds. We got not only the movie but also the best parts of the nighttime.

When I was a kid, I loved going to the drive-in. The one we always went to had a playground, and at intermission kids clad in pajamas, slippers and robes played on the different equipment. I always gravitated to the swings. I liked to jump off in mid-air. Little kids seemed to like the slide. Behind us was the concession stand, and I remember the smell of burgers cooking and popcorn popping.

I have returned from the doctor. What amazed me was I noticed the driving I did today equaled the same number of miles I drove all of last week when mostly I stayed close to home and shopped only in nearby stores. With nothing planned the whole of the rest of this week, my mileage this and last week may end up the same. I am most decidedly a homebody.

My mother would have been 91 today. I think of her always. Happy Birthday, Mom!!

Today is hot and humid. It is also dark and cloudy. The forecast is maybe rain. The storms of the last few days bypassed us. North of us got inches of rain. We got clouds. Nothing is worse than clouds by the seashore.

Almost frost here this morning and I loved it 🙂 Still I really don’t want frost because I have all my tomato plants in the garden 🙂

Too bad we really can’t see movies outdoors here since it won’t be dark enough until long after 9 pm 🙂

    Have a great day!

    Hi Kat,
Homebody here, too. My jeep sat in the driveway for pretty near a week. I went out on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Thursday was a run up the highway to Beverly but otherwise I stayed very close to home. Pizza and drugstore. I might go out today because I’m craving chocolate and the dogs probably need a change of scenery.

We went to the drive-in in North Reading near Kitty’s restaurant, I think. It’s long gone now. There was a playground underneath the screen and the concession stand was at the bottom of the driveway into the parking lot. Kind of beside the middle rows. Pajamas were the dress of choice for evening showings. It was also nice, when we had the station wagon because we could have pillows.

It’s still dark and dreary up here. No rain today but it looks like it really wants to.

    Enjoy the evening.

      Hi Caryn,
I went 20 miles last week which is a bout my usual in the summer. I stay off the roads especially on cloudy days. Today I was all over the back roads. Pizza I get delivered.

We went to that drive-in a couple ofttimes. Mostly we went to the one in Burlington as my grandfather had a car pass from one of the Lowe’s, a friend of his, so we could go often.

It looked the same down here. There were times I expected rain but we got none.

      Have a great evening!

My favorite pizza, and one of the best in town, is in a gas station about a mile from my house. Yeah, eat here and get gas. Anyway, they are not open on Sundays and they don’t deliver. Very odd. But great pizza and other Italian-type food.

I once read an article about the best gas station food, including one selling Mexican food. I would never knock a gas station with great pizza!!

Over the weekend I have become a homebody. The dreary weather didn’t help. I had no energy or desire to leave the house except for lunch on Sunday. I can’t remember an August when we had this much rain and this much cool temperatures. August is traditionally our hottest and driest month. Darn that global warming. 🙂

In 1954 we lived in an apartment complex that backed up to a drive in movie. We could stand at the slated fence and watch the movie without the sound. Drive in movies today are as rare as hen’s teeth. The few that are left will have to close when the film industry stoppes producing 35mm film. Almost all the movies today are transmitted to the theaters digitally over the Internet. Most Drive in Movie theaters can’t afford to upgrade to digital projectors.

I hope your doctor gave you good news.

There are times when the weather keeps me inside but mostly it is staying home by choice. I get to go out on the deck so I get air. I can turn on the AC so I stay cool.Home has everything I need.

We have a drive-in down here in Wellfleet which is popular and staying open with the help of the flea markets it has on weekends. That theater has already upgraded so they can still show films.

It was good news maybe. I have had some issues with my eye, and he say it was concerning to him because of previous issues with the same eye, but he could find nothing wrong because the ye wasn’t in any pain so I have to call him when it hurts again or maybe I can say if it hurts again.

I had to think about “one of my friends cooked the dogs” 🙂
Could you see the Perseids meteor shower?

I’m not really a homebody but a sting of wasp temporarily stopped my bike tours. It’s difficult to bike with only one working hand, the other hand is swollen like a blown up rubber glove and looks funny. I biked anyway, just some errands in town.

    • katry Says:

No real dogs were harmed by the dinner.

Sadly, it was too cloudy to see the meteor showers, the second year in a row.

That’s awful. I can’t remember the last time I got bitten by a bee or a wasp. A few weeks ago my brother-in-law had his tongue bitten by a wasp which had gotten into his can of soda.

Quite the warrior using one hand!

I’ve often wondered just what your “movie set-up” is. Care to elaborated?
