“You can’t make a cloudy day a sunny day, but can embrace it and decide it’s going to be a good day after all.”

Today is dark and dank. The humidity is back, and the air is thick with moisture. There is  a wind blowing branches and leaves back and forth. Rain is predicted for this afternoon, and I can barely wait. Everything is dry.

Last night we never did see a movie. We had appetizers and dinner on the deck, but it got too cold to stay outside so we had game night inside instead. You are reading the words of a winner!

I like to try new recipes when I have company so last night we had blueberry salsa. It was delicious. The blueberries were small, wild berries and were wonderfully sweet. I ate a few handfuls before I made the salsa. A variety of barbecued sausages, marinara sauce, caramelized onions and fried peppers were the main meal with coleslaw and cucumber salad as sides. I had bought fresh ciabatta bread so we could made sandwiches. Dinner was delicious, and the best part is I get to have leftovers today.

One of the spawns of Satan has gone to his reward. When I was watering the deck plants yesterday, I saw what I thought might have been Henry’s waste product (better known as poop), but it was in a weird spot and he never goes on the deck. After a closer examination, I realized it was offal. It was then I saw the gross remains of a gray spawn’s head and only the head. I jet sprayed all of it off the deck. My guess is a raccoon though I haven’t seen one and Henry hasn’t announced one.

Today is a stay around the house day, a sloth day. I’m not even going to get dressed. I’m going to finish my book and start another one. I’m going to eat a sausage sandwich. I may even take a nap.

Henry’s going to find that squirrel’s head and roll in it, or bring it into the house.
Same weather here. Can’t walk, can’t use the pool because I’ll get wet!😂
We went to our friend’s birthday yesterday–104. We’ll see her again next year. She’s like the Energizer Bunny.

      Bill,
I don’t think even Henry will touch it. That head was gross. The flies alerted me to the something on the deck.

      104, unbelievable!!

Congrats on your winning last night. Your meal sounds wonderful. I love blueberries but would have nver thought to make them into a salsa. I’m amazed how much Mexican culture has infiltrated into the rest of the country north of the border and how much many Americans have developed a hatred for Mexican immigrants since 45 was elected. Salsa has exceeded ketchup as the most popular condiment in the US.

This morning on CBS Sunday Morning they ran a story about Billy Joel’s 100th sold out performance at Madison Square Garden. When ‘Herr’ Trump said that there were good people on the Alt-right (Neo-Nazi) side at Charlottesville, Joel wore a yellow Star of David on his coat during the concert to honor his family members who perished at Auschwitz.

Guess how hot it’s going to get today? At 3:00 PM it’s 109 without a cloud in the sky. 🙁

      Bob,
I love all sorts of salsa. The pineapple, mango one I made a while back was also great. I think all sorts of fruit make an amazing salsa.

We can eat Mexican. We just don’t like Mexican food!!

Good for Billy Joel! I can’t Trump with his softened stance, his defense for Neo-Nazis. They are good people, just haters.

I could not live there, AC or not. It was chilly today, and we never did get that rain though it is still cloudy.

Completely off topic, but I thought I’d share something I ran across today (maybe it’s been shared before, but it looks like it wasn’t uploaded on YouTube until April of this year). I’m currently in the middle of watching, but so far it’s worth the time commitment of 49 minutes. From August 19, 1969…

Thanks, im6. I think Joni is always worth the time! I still don’t know why Dick is dressed like he’s going on safari, but I do love the color of his t-shirt. The audience didn’t appreciate his humor all that much.

Jefferson Airplane with their clothes, hair and the lights behind them is classic.

Chelsea Morning is about my favorite Joni. It is on Clouds which I had with me in Ghana. We played it just about every night. The images in this song are amazing. “The sun shone in like butterscotch and stuck to all my sense” I remember my friend Bill saying he imagined the oranges in the bowl were green, Ghanaian oranges. Hearing this again brings tears to my eyes and the most wonderful memories of Ghana. I can see and hear it all.
      Now back to Joni.
