I still remember when I heard Paul Robeson for the first time on the radio. I was quite young and very impressed by his voice, such a powerful, warm and honest sound.

I think the first song I heard him sing was Old Man River. I too was taken with the power of his voice. It was remarkable.

The man could drop a bass note. This song is well suited. He would also have been great at “What Wondrous Love is this”?.

What a beautiful song. I have heard this by a variety of singers, but I think this is my new favorite.
